Pilot in Command

Position Overview
The Pilot in Command is a critical role reporting to the Lead Captain and is responsible for the safe and efficient conduct of assigned flight assignments, with a paramount emphasis on safety, security, and quality. This position exercises Pilot in Command authority on all assigned flights and serves as the final authority for the safe conduct of the flight operation.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate the aircraft safely, determining departure times and routes, and cancelling flights based on weather or other conditions as necessary.
- Ensure the flight is conducted in complete compliance with all federal, local, and company regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Institute necessary changes required by en route conditions to ensure the flight continues under appropriate company policies, procedures, and rules.
- Conduct flights in a safe and prudent manner in accordance with industry and company standards.
- Complete all trip paperwork accurately and in accordance with current procedures.
- Ensure a thorough and complete understanding with the Second in Command regarding all aspects of the flight.
- Record all aircraft discrepancies on the aircraft discrepancy log as they occur and immediately report them to the Director of Maintenance or designee. Refer to the approved MEL and, as directed, determine if the inoperative item can be deferred or requires repair, completing the discrepancy log as required.
- Determine that the flight crew reports for duty in proper attire and is mentally and physically fit for duty.
- Maintain a complete working knowledge of all aircraft systems authorized for operation, including all emergency systems and procedures associated with the aircraft.
- Secure the aircraft after each flight, including arranging hangar storage if deemed necessary or instructed by company management.
- Obtain the most current weather reports, forecasts, and NOTAMS from an FAA flight service station or other authorized agency.
- File or cause a flight plan to be filed with the FAA or an ICAO state ATC facility.
- Analyze area, en route, and terminal charts for the airport of intended landing and alternates.
- Perform the functions of the In-flight Security Coordinator (ISC) under the provisions of the applicable security program.
- Conduct required passenger safety briefings or assign that duty to the Second in Command.
- Impart knowledge and skills to the Second in Command to prepare them to assume Pilot in Command duties in an emergency or when upgrading.
- Complete and send the leg manifest to operations control prior to each departure.
- Complete and send the End of Day (EOD) report to operations control upon completion of each flight day.
- Take an active role in supporting the open sharing of information on all safety issues and reporting all safety hazards and concerns.
- Make an immediate report of any hazardous action, conduct, or event to the Chief Pilot and Director of Safety.
- May delegate duties but retains responsibility for those duties.
- Represent Jet Aviation as one company internally and externally with industry groups, regulatory bodies, and the General Dynamics network.
- Perform other duties as required.
Minimum Requirements
- Possess an Airline Transport Pilot Certificate with appropriate Aircraft Type Rating.
- Obtain and maintain an FAA First Class Medical Certificate.
- 4000 hours Total Fixed Wing experience.
- 1500 hours Multi-Engine Land experience.
- 2000 hours Pilot-in-Command experience.
- 1500 hours Turbojet experience.
- 1500 hours Turbine time.
- 100 hours Night experience.
- 75 hours Actual or Simulated Instrument time.
- 5 years of aviation experience.
- Ability to work flexible schedules.
- Willing and able to travel worldwide extensively, without restrictions.
- Must possess a valid driver's license.

Physical Demands
The physical demands are representative of those an employee must meet to perform the essential functions successfully. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, or sit and use hands and fingers to handle, feel, or reach. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds above their heads. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust and focus.
Work Environment
The work environment characteristics described are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions. The employee must be able to work in both a heavy maintenance environment and upscale customer areas. The noise level is usually moderate with occasional high volume. The employee is frequently exposed to vibration. Occasional fuel fumes may permeate the workplace. The employee must be willing and able to work in all types of weather conditions. The hangar environment can experience extreme temperatures during certain seasons.
