Position Summary
The Pilot in Command reports to the Lead Captain and is responsible for the safe and efficient conduct of assigned flight operations, with a paramount emphasis on safety, security, and quality. The Pilot in Command exercises ultimate authority over all assigned flights and serves as the final authority for ensuring the safe conduct of the flight mission.
Minimum Requirements
- Possess an Airline Transport Pilot Certificate with appropriate Aircraft Type Rating.
- Obtain and maintain an FAA First Class Medical Certificate.
- 4000 hours Total Fixed Wing flight time.
- 1500 hours Multi-Engine Land flight time.
- 2000 hours Pilot-in-Command flight time.
- 1500 hours Turbojet flight time.
- 1500 Turbine flight time.
- 100 hours Night flight time.
- 75 hours Actual or Simulated Instrument flight time.
- Minimum of 5 years of aviation experience.
- Ability to work flexible schedules.
- Willingness and ability to travel worldwide extensively without restrictions.
- Must possess a valid driver's license.
Main Responsibilities
- Safely operate the aircraft, determine departure times and routes, and/or cancel flights based on prevailing weather or other pertinent conditions.
- Ensure all flights are conducted in strict compliance with all federal, local, and company regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Institute all necessary changes as required by en route conditions to ensure the flight continues under appropriate company policies, procedures, and rules.
- Responsible for conducting the flight in a safe and prudent manner, in accordance with industry and company standards.
- Ensure accurate completion of all trip paperwork in accordance with current procedures.
- Responsible for maintaining a thorough and complete understanding with the Second in Command regarding all aspects of the flight.
- Record all aircraft discrepancies as they occur on the aircraft discrepancy log and immediately report these discrepancies to the Director of Maintenance or designee as soon as possible. Refer to the approved MEL and, as directed by the DOM or designee, determine if the inoperative item can be deferred or requires immediate repair, completing the aircraft discrepancy log as required.
- Determine that the flight crew reports for duty in proper attire and are mentally and physically fit for duty.
- Maintain a complete working knowledge of all aircraft systems authorized to operate, including all emergency systems and associated procedures.
- Secure the aircraft after each flight, including arranging hangar storage if deemed necessary or instructed by company management.
- Obtain the most current weather reports, forecasts, and NOTAMS from an FAA flight service station or other authorized agency.
- File or cause a flight plan to be filed with the FAA or an ICAO state ATC facility.
- Analyze area, enroute, and terminal charts for the airport of intended landing and alternates.
- Perform the functions of the In-Flight Security Coordinator (ISC) under the provisions of the Twelve-Five Standard Security Program or Private Charter Standard Security Program as applicable.
- Conduct required passenger safety briefings or assign that duty to the Second in Command.
- Impart knowledge and skills to the Second in Command to prepare them to assume the duties of Pilot in Command in an emergency or when the Second in Command upgrades to Pilot in Command in that aircraft.
- Complete and transmit the leg manifest to Operations Control prior to each departure.
- Complete and transmit the End of Day (EOD) report to Operations Control upon completion of each flight day.
- Responsible for actively supporting the open sharing of information on all safety issues and reporting all safety hazards and concerns.
- Responsible for making an immediate report of any hazardous action, conduct, or event to the Chief Pilot and Director of Safety.
- The Pilot in Command may delegate duties but not the responsibility for those duties.
- Perform other duties as required.
- Represent Jet Aviation internally and externally with industry groups, regulatory bodies, and the General Dynamics network.

Work Environment
The work environment characteristics described herein are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The employee must be adaptable to working in both a heavy maintenance environment and in upscale customer areas. The noise level in the work environment is typically moderate with occasional high volume during aircraft arrivals/departures. The employee is frequently exposed to vibration. Occasional fuel fumes may be present. The employee must be willing and able to work in all types of weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud, and the Hangar environment may experience extreme temperatures (hot and cold) during certain seasons of the year.
