Position Summary: Pilot in Command
The Pilot in Command operates under the guidance of the Lead Captain concerning company operating policies and procedures. This role assumes responsibility for the safe and efficient conduct of flight assignments, placing paramount emphasis on safety, security, and quality. The Pilot in Command exercises final authority and command over all assigned flights, ensuring their safe execution.
Minimum Requirements
- Possession of an Airline Transport Pilot Certificate with the appropriate Aircraft Type Rating
- Ability to obtain and maintain an FAA First Class Medical Certificate
- 4000 hours Total Fixed Wing flight time
- 1500 hours Multi-Engine Land flight time
- 2000 hours Pilot-in-Command time
- 1500 hours Turbojet time
- 1500 hours Turbine time
- 100 hours Night flight time
- 75 hours Actual or Simulated Instrument time
- A minimum of 5 years of aviation experience
- Ability to work flexible schedules
- Willingness and ability to travel worldwide extensively, without any restrictions
- Possession of a valid driver's license
Main Responsibilities
- Safely operate the aircraft, determining departure times and routes, and managing flight cancellations based on weather or other conditions.
- Ensure all flights are conducted in strict compliance with federal, local, and company regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Implement necessary changes prompted by en route conditions to maintain flight progression in adherence to appropriate company policies, procedures, and rules.
- Conduct flights in a safe and prudent manner, aligning with industry and company standards.
- Accurately complete all trip paperwork in accordance with current procedures.
- Foster a thorough and complete understanding with the Second in Command regarding all aspects of the flight.
- Record all aircraft discrepancies on the aircraft discrepancy log as they occur and report them immediately to the Director of Maintenance (DOM) or their designee as soon as possible. Refer to the approved Minimum Equipment List (MEL) as directed by the DOM or designee to determine if the inoperative item can be deferred or requires repair, completing the aircraft discrepancy log accordingly.
- Confirm the flight crew reports for duty in proper attire, mentally and physically fit for their assignment.
- Maintain a comprehensive working knowledge of all authorized aircraft systems, including emergency systems and associated procedures.
- Secure the aircraft after each flight, arranging for hangar storage if deemed necessary or instructed by company management.
- Obtain the most current weather reports, forecasts, and NOTAMs from an FAA flight service station or other authorized agency.
- File or ensure a flight plan is filed with the FAA or an ICAO state ATC facility.
- Analyze area, enroute, and terminal charts for the intended landing airport and alternates.
- Perform the functions of the Inflight Security Coordinator (ISC) as applicable under the provisions of the Twelve Five Standard Security Program or Private Charter Standard Security Program.
- Conduct or assign the required passenger safety briefings to the Second in Command.
- Impart knowledge and skills to the Second in Command to prepare them for assuming Pilot in Command duties during emergencies or eventual upgrade.
- Complete and send the leg manifest to operations control prior to each departure.
- Complete and send the End of Day (EOD) report to operations control upon completion of each flight day.
- Actively support the open sharing of information on all safety issues and report all safety hazards and concerns.
- Immediately report any hazardous action, conduct, or event to the Chief Pilot and Director of Safety.
- May delegate duties but retains full responsibility for those duties.
- Perform other duties as required.
- Represent Jet Aviation internally and externally as one unified company, engaging with industry groups, regulatory bodies, and the General Dynamics network.

Noise levels in certain areas, particularly the Hangar environment, can be loud and subject to extreme hot and cold temperatures depending on the season.
