Jet Aviation is seeking a highly qualified Captain for the Global 6000 aircraft based in Bedford, Massachusetts. This is an onsite position within the Flight Services Job Category, classified at the Technicians / Crew Career Level.

Position Summary

The Pilot in Command reports to the Lead Captain and is responsible for the safe and efficient conduct of assigned flight operations, with a strong emphasis on safety, security, and quality. This role exercises Pilot in Command authority for all assigned flights and serves as the final authority for their safe execution.

Minimum Requirements

  • Must possess an Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) Certificate with the appropriate Aircraft Type Rating.
  • Must obtain and maintain an FAA First Class Medical Certificate.
  • A minimum of 4000 hours Total Fixed Wing flight experience is required.
  • A minimum of 1500 hours Multi-Engine Land flight experience is required.
  • A minimum of 2000 hours Pilot-in-Command flight experience is required.
  • A minimum of 1500 hours Turbojet flight experience is required.
  • A minimum of 1500 hours Turbine flight experience is required.
  • A minimum of 100 hours Night flight experience is required.
  • A minimum of 75 hours Actual or Simulated Instrument flight experience is required.
  • A minimum of 5 years of aviation experience is required.
  • The ability to work flexible schedules is essential.
  • Must be willing and able to travel worldwide extensively without any restrictions.
  • A valid driver's license is required.

Main Responsibilities

  • Safely operate the aircraft, determine departure times and routes, and/or cancel flights based on prevailing weather or other conditions.
  • Ensure that the flight is conducted in complete compliance with all federal, local, and company regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Institute all necessary changes as required by en route conditions to ensure the flight continues under appropriate company policies, procedures, and rules.
  • Responsible for conducting the flight in a safe and prudent manner in accordance with industry and company standards.
  • Accurately complete all trip paperwork in accordance with current procedures.
  • Responsible for ensuring a thorough and complete understanding with the Second in Command regarding all aspects of the flight.
  • Record all aircraft discrepancies as they occur on the aircraft discrepancy log and immediately report these discrepancies to the Director of Maintenance (DOM) or their designee as soon as possible. Reference the approved Minimum Equipment List (MEL) and, as directed by the DOM or designee, determine if the inoperative item can be deferred or requires repair, completing the aircraft discrepancy log as required.
  • Determine that the flight crew reports for duty in proper attire and are mentally and physically fit for duty.
  • Maintain a complete working knowledge of all aircraft systems authorized for operation, including all emergency systems and procedures associated with the aircraft.
  • Secure the aircraft after each flight, including arranging hangar storage if deemed necessary or instructed by company management.
  • Obtain the most current weather reports, forecasts, and NOTAMs from an FAA Flight Service Station or other authorized agency.
  • File or cause a flight plan to be filed with the FAA or an ICAO state ATC facility.
  • Analyze area, en route, and terminal charts for the airport of intended landing and alternates.
  • Perform the functions of the In-flight Security Coordinator (ISC) under the provisions of the twelve five standard security program or private charter standard security program as applicable.
  • Conduct the required passenger safety briefings or assign that duty to the Second in Command.
  • Impart knowledge and skills to the Second in Command to prepare them to assume the duties of Pilot in Command in an emergency or when the Second in Command upgrades to Pilot in Command on that aircraft.
  • Complete and send the leg manifest to Operations Control prior to each departure.
  • Complete and send the End of Day (EOD) report to Operations Control upon completion of each flight day.
  • Responsible for taking an active role supporting the open sharing of information on all safety issues and reporting all safety hazards and concerns.
  • Responsible for making an immediate report of any hazardous action, conduct, or event to the Chief Pilot and Director of Safety.
  • The Pilot in Command may delegate these duties but not the responsibility for those duties.
  • Perform other duties as required.
  • Represent Jet Aviation as one company internally and externally with industry groups, regulatory bodies, and the General Dynamics network.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

The physical demands described are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The work environment characteristics described are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The employee must be able to work in both a heavy maintenance environment and in upscale customer areas. The noise level is usually moderate with occasional high volume when aircraft arrive/depart. The employee is frequently exposed to vibration. Occasional fuel fumes may permeate the workplace. Employee must be willing and able to work in all types of weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. The Hangar environment may be extreme hot and cold during certain seasons of the year.
