Pilot in Command

Position Summary
The Pilot in Command operates under the direction of the Lead Captain, adhering strictly to company operating policies and procedures. This role is paramount for the safe and efficient execution of flight assignments, emphasizing safety, security, and quality. The Pilot in Command exercises full authority over all assigned flights and serves as the final decision-maker regarding flight safety.
Minimum Requirements
- Possess an Airline Transport Pilot Certificate with the appropriate Aircraft Type Rating.
- Obtain and maintain an FAA First Class Medical Certificate.
- Accumulate a minimum of 4000 total fixed-wing flight hours.
- Log at least 1500 hours of Multi-Engine Land flight time.
- Have a minimum of 2000 hours as Pilot-in-Command.
- Possess at least 1500 hours of Turbojet flight time.
- Record a minimum of 1500 Turbine flight hours.
- Accumulate at least 100 hours of Night flight time.
- Log a minimum of 75 hours of Actual or Simulated Instrument flight time.
- Possess a minimum of 5 years of aviation experience.
- Demonstrate the ability to work flexible schedules.
- Be willing and able to travel worldwide extensively without restrictions.
- Hold a valid driver's license.
Main Responsibilities
- Safely operating the aircraft, determining departure times and routes, and making decisions regarding flight cancellations based on weather or other pertinent conditions.
- Ensuring all flights are conducted in complete compliance with all federal, local, and company regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Implementing necessary changes dictated by en route conditions to ensure flight continuation aligns with appropriate company policies, procedures, and rules.
- Taking responsibility for conducting the flight in a safe and prudent manner, adhering to both industry and company standards.
- Accurately completing all required trip paperwork according to current procedures.
- Ensuring thorough and complete understanding with the Second in Command regarding all aspects of flight operations.
- Recording all aircraft discrepancies on the aircraft discrepancy log as they occur and reporting them immediately to the Director of Maintenance (DOM) or designee. Referring to the approved MEL and as directed by the DOM or designee, determining if the inoperative item can be deferred or requires repair, and completing the aircraft discrepancy log accordingly.
- Verifying that the flight crew reports for duty in proper attire and is mentally and physically fit for duty.
- Maintaining a comprehensive working knowledge of all aircraft systems authorized for operation, including all associated emergency systems and procedures.
- Securing the aircraft after each flight, including arranging hangar storage if deemed necessary or instructed by company management.
- Obtaining the most current weather reports, forecasts, and NOTAMs from an FAA flight service station or other authorized agency.
- Filing or ensuring a flight plan is filed with the FAA or an ICAO state ATC facility.
- Analyzing area, enroute, and terminal charts for the intended landing airport and alternates.
- Performing the functions of the In TSA Flight Security Coordinator (ISC) under the provisions of the Twelve Five Standard Security Program or Private Charter Standard Security Program, as applicable.
- Conducting the required passenger safety briefings or assigning this duty to the Second in Command.
- Imparting knowledge and skills to the Second in Command to prepare them to assume Pilot in Command duties in an emergency or upon upgrade to Pilot in Command in that aircraft.
- Completing and submitting the leg manifest to operations control prior to each departure.
- Completing and submitting the End of Day (EOD) report to operations control upon completion of each flight day.
- Actively supporting the open sharing of information on all safety issues and reporting all safety hazards and concerns.
- Immediately reporting any hazardous action, conduct, or event to the Chief Pilot and Director of Safety.
- Duties may be delegated, but the ultimate responsibility for those duties rests with the Pilot in Command.
- Performing other duties as required.
- Representing Jet Aviation as one company, both internally and externally with industry groups, regulatory bodies, and the General Dynamics network.

Work Environment
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those encountered while performing the essential functions of this job. The employee must be comfortable working in both a heavy maintenance environment and upscale customer areas. The noise level is typically moderate but can be high when aircraft arrive/depart. Exposure to vibration is frequent. Occasional fuel fumes may be present. The employee must be willing and able to work in all types of weather conditions. The noise level in the hangar environment is usually loud, and temperatures may be extreme during certain seasons.
Compensation Data
The likely salary range for this position is $250,000 - $290,000. This range is not a guarantee of compensation or salary. The final salary will be determined based on experience, geographic location, and potentially other requirements.
