Position Overview
Flight for Life® Colorado is seeking a dedicated and experienced Fixed-Wing Air Ambulance Pilot to join their team in a crucial floater position. This role offers the unique opportunity to provide life-saving air medical transport services, operating the sophisticated King Air 200 aircraft. The successful candidate will be based between Denver, CO (APA) and Durango, CO (DRO), contributing significantly to critical care missions across the Rocky Mountain region and surrounding states.
This pilot will play a pivotal role in missions ranging from transporting pediatric patients for specialized care and delivering donor organs for transplant, to assisting in vital search and rescue operations. Every flight undertaken in this position directly impacts lives, and the pilot's contributions are deeply valued and appreciated.

Key Responsibilities
The Fixed-Wing Air Ambulance Pilot will be responsible for:
- Operating the King Air 200 aircraft as a single pilot during vital air ambulance operations.
- Maintaining a state of readiness at both the Denver, CO (APA) and Durango, CO (DRO) facilities for critical-care flights, which typically average 800 miles throughout the Front Range and surrounding states.
- Conducting thorough pre-flight inspections to ensure aircraft airworthiness and strict compliance with all FAA and company regulations.
- Supervising the safe loading of patients, medical crew, essential equipment, and baggage, meticulously ensuring that all weight and balance standards are met.
- Coordinating effectively with ground crews and medical teams to facilitate efficient communication and ensure the successful completion of each mission.
- Upholding all Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs), Flight for Life® procedures, and company flight operations manuals, while actively contributing to Mayo Aviation’s robust Safety Management System (SMS).

Qualifications
Prospective candidates must meet the following requirements:
- Authorization to work in the U.S. without sponsorship, accompanied by a valid U.S. passport.
- A strong working knowledge of Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs).
- Possession of a current First Class Medical Certificate and an Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) Certificate.
- A Bachelor’s degree is preferred but not strictly required.
- Minimum flight experience:
- 2,500 hours total flight time
- 500 hours multi-engine time
- 1,000 hours Pilot-in-Command (PIC) time
- A proven impeccable safety record.
- Single-pilot, mountain terrain experience is preferred, though not mandatory.
- Fluency in both spoken and written English.
- Must currently reside within one hour of Denver, CO (APA) or Durango, CO (DRO), or be willing to relocate to meet this requirement.
- Ability to work 12-hour shifts as scheduled.
