Position Overview: Flight Operations Support - Duty Pilot

The Flight Operations Support role provides subject matter expertise and operational support for projects within Flight Training & Standards and Delta Professional Services (DPS). This part-time position functions on an "as needed" basis, requiring a fundamental understanding of FAA Part 121 air carrier operations and moderate to expert knowledge within specific focus areas. The role reports directly to the DPS Manager of Delta Flight Training Operations.

Duty Pilots operate within the Operations and Customer Center (OCC) and the ATL Airport Customer Center (ACC). The Duty Pilot desk maintains 24/7, 365-day coverage. Successful candidates will work approximately 10-14 shifts per month, with duties based at the General Offices or ACC in Atlanta, GA.

Shift Hours:

  • Day: 06:00 – 14:30
  • Evening: 14:00 – 22:00
  • Night: 22:00 – 06:00

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for pilots regarding day-to-day operational issues.
  • Provide guidance during safety-related events, flights requiring MCC input, or conflict resolution scenarios.
  • Coordinate cross-divisionally within the OCC/ACC to resolve operational challenges.
  • Facilitate communication between pilots, CPO, and other departments to ensure effective problem resolution.
  • Monitor communication channels to mitigate operational impacts.
  • Analyze flight schedules and coordinate with ACS to identify and address operational shifts.
  • Monitor and assist with DOT 3/4 compliance.
  • Assess pushback delays to ensure accuracy and identify operational trends.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Prior experience as a Delta Pilot.
  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
  • Minimum 18 years of age with authorization to work in the United States.
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make critical decisions while adhering to company procedures.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to produce compliant, error-free work under deadlines.
  • Commitment to safety, security, and ethical standards.
  • Demonstrated ability to foster a diverse and inclusive professional environment.
  • Innovative and strategic thinking capabilities.
  • Solid organizational, leadership, and communication (verbal, written, and presentation) skills.
  • Proficiency in computer systems, including Office 365 and internal Delta/DPS software.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, 24/7 operational environment.
