Salary Range: $78,000 – $119,000 annually (determined by education, experience, and qualifications)
Work Schedule: Full-Time Office/Project; potential for overtime, weekends, and night shifts as business needs arise.

Position Summary

The Surveyor / UAV Specialist supports the administration of the survey work request program and ensures the accurate layout of construction activities. This role involves technical support, data management, and the coordination of the project’s UAV/Drone program. The incumbent will assist in equipment inspection, instrument calibration, and the creation of survey drawings and technical deliverables to support construction schedules.

Major Responsibilities

  • Assist the survey team in implementing project safety, quality, and environmental programs.
  • Administer the Survey Work Request program and ensure office calculations align with construction schedules.
  • Develop, maintain, review, and approve survey data and documentation.
  • Provide technical office support, including processing survey data and preparing deliverables using industry best practices.
  • Verify Primary, Secondary, and Tertiary control points.
  • Identify underground services and maintain as-built records for excavation permitting.
  • Prepare CAD drawings, including Digital Terrain Models (DTM) and volume computations.
  • Lead the project UAV/Drone program, including piloting, training/supervising other pilots, and processing photogrammetric data.

Education and Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (or international equivalent) with 2–5 years of relevant experience, OR 6–9 years of relevant work experience.

Required Knowledge and Skills

  • Proficiency in Survey CAD software (e.g., Trimble Business Center, AutoCAD Civil 3D).
  • Demonstrated experience piloting rotary and fixed-wing UAVs and knowledge of flight data/photogrammetry processing software.
  • Experience with Laser Scanning hardware and software.
  • Knowledge of heavy industrial construction survey principles, supervisory functions, and engineering methods.
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams).
  • Strong communication and team-based interpersonal skills.
  • Physical ability to participate in project walkdowns (walking on uneven surfaces, climbing ladders/scaffolding, accessing confined spaces, and lifting up to 40 lbs).
  • Commitment to safety standards (Zero Incidents program) and environmental compliance.
