Job Overview: Remote Pilot Operator (RPO)
SAIC is seeking a full-time Remote Pilot Operator (RPO) to join the Controller Training Solutions (CTS) team at the Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport (MSY) in New Orleans, LA. This role supports air traffic controller training services for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). Please note: This position is not a UAS, UAV, RPV, or drone pilot role.
Position Responsibilities
The Remote Pilot Operator serves a critical function in the Air Traffic Controller training simulator. The primary responsibilities include:

Operating simulated radar displays and voice communication systems to mimic pilot and remote ATC facility actions during training exercises.

Receiving voice commands from students and inputting pilot actions into automated systems.

Translating displayed information into appropriate ATC terminology and communicating with students via the Voice Communication System (VCS) using standard phraseology.

Successfully completing required classroom certification (testing on airspace and procedures) and lab certification (performance-based assessment on all positions).
Required Qualifications

U.S. Citizenship with the ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.

High school diploma or equivalent.

Demonstrated basic computer proficiency.

Ability to read and interpret technical materials, including diagrams and manuals.

Clear verbal communication skills.
Desired Skills and Experience

Experience working within multidisciplinary teams (e.g., instructors, subject matter experts, instructional designers).

Prior certification or experience in ATC Tower, TRACON, or En Route simulation labs.

Working knowledge of FAAO JO 7110.65.

Effective oral, written, and team-building communication skills.

Proficiency in the MS Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).

Familiarization with modern technological tools, including tablets and mobile applications.

Experience with or understanding of pilot/controller communication phraseology.
