Lead Captain - Global 6000
Jet Aviation is seeking a qualified and experienced Lead Captain for a Global 6000 aircraft, based in Trenton, New Jersey, specifically Ewing Township. This is an onsite position within the Flight Services job category, suitable for experienced technicians and crew members.
Job Summary:
The Lead Captain reports to the regional chief pilot and is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of flight assignments, with a paramount emphasis on safety, security, and quality. The Lead Captain exercises Pilot in Command authority on all assigned flights and serves as the final authority for the safe conduct of each flight.
Responsibilities:
- Safely operates the aircraft, determines departure times and routes, and/or cancels flights based on weather or other conditions.
- Ensures all flights are conducted in full compliance with federal, local, and company regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Coordinates aircraft schedules and training with flight crew and CSR, utilizing supplemental crew as needed.
- Collaborates with the Maintenance Manager regarding aircraft servicing and cleaning.
- Ensures assigned crew members submit and review flight and duty records, along with all other required documentation.
- Maintains current aircraft manuals and Jeppesen charts/EFBs, delegating responsibilities as necessary.
- Coordinates crew member training and check rides, in conjunction with the Manager of Training, based on the annual training calendar.
- Coordinates crew time off and training events while maintaining optimal aircraft coverage.
- Ensures flight crew members report for duty in appropriate attire and are mentally and physically fit to fly.
- Mentors and coaches crew members to support their professional development.
- Conducts annual performance reviews for assigned crew members.
- Attends Lead Captain meetings.
- Assists the Account Director as requested.
- Participates in the hiring process for flight crew.
- Institutes necessary changes dictated by en route conditions, ensuring flights adhere to company policies, procedures, and rules.
- Conducts flights in a safe and prudent manner, adhering to industry and company standards.
- Accurately completes all trip paperwork as per current procedures.
- Ensures thorough understanding of all flight aspects with the second in command.
- Records aircraft discrepancies in the log and promptly reports them to the director of maintenance or designee.
- Maintains a comprehensive working knowledge of all aircraft systems, including emergency systems and procedures.
- Secures the aircraft after each flight, arranging hangar storage as needed or instructed.
- Obtains current weather reports, forecasts, and NOTAMS from authorized agencies.
- Files flight plans with the FAA or an ICAO state ATC facility.
- Analyzes area, enroute, and terminal charts for the destination airport and alternates.
- Performs the functions of the In TSA Flight Security Coordinator (ISC) under the applicable security program.
- Conducts passenger safety briefings or assigns this duty to the second in command.
- Imparts knowledge and skills to the second in command, preparing them for Pilot in Command duties.
- Completes and sends leg manifests to operations control prior to each departure.
- Completes and sends the End of DAY (EOD) report to operations control upon completion of each flight day.
- Actively supports the open sharing of information on all safety issues and reports all safety hazards and concerns immediately to the chief pilot and director of safety.
- Represents Jet Aviation internally and externally with industry groups, regulatory bodies, and the General Dynamics network.
- Other duties may be required as needed.
Minimum Requirements:
- Must possess an Airline Transport Pilot Certificate with appropriate Aircraft Type Rating.
- Must obtain and maintain an FAA First Class Medical Certificate.
- 4000 hours Total Fixed Wing flight time.
- 1500 hours Multi-Engine Land flight time.
- 2000 hours Pilot-in-Command flight time.
- 1500 hours Turbojet flight time.
- 1500 hours Turbine flight time.
- 100 hours Night flight time.
- 75 hours Actual or Simulated Instrument flight time.
- 5 years of aviation experience.
- Must be able to work flexible schedules.
- Willingness to travel worldwide extensively and without any restrictions.
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Must have a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.

Physical Demands:
The role involves using hands and fingers, standing, walking, sitting, climbing, balancing, kneeling, crouching, or crawling. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds above their head. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust and focus.
Work Environment:
The employee must be able to work in both a heavy maintenance environment and in upscale customer areas. The noise level is usually moderate, with occasional high volume during aircraft arrivals/departures. The employee is frequently exposed to vibration. Occasional fuel fumes may be present. Employee must be willing and able to work in all types of weather conditions. The Hangar environment may be extreme hot and cold during certain seasons of the year.
