About the Role
As a Flight Attendant for Horizon Air, the successful candidate will serve as the welcoming face of the airline, representing Alaska Airlines with authenticity and grace. This role requires a comprehensive understanding of inflight service duties and stringent safety protocols. A commitment to maintaining a positive and approachable demeanor with both guests and colleagues is paramount to fostering an airline environment that passengers love.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure strict adherence to all safety regulations and maintain a state of full compliance.
- Verify that all safety equipment on aircraft is in optimal working condition.
- Welcome passengers, assist with seating arrangements, manage carry-on baggage, and ensure passenger security.
- Clearly explain and demonstrate the use of safety equipment and emergency procedures relevant to all aircraft types.
- Prepare and serve a variety of meals and beverages, including alcoholic drinks.
- Actively promote and market onboard products, such as meals and inflight entertainment, and process sales using a mobile device.
- Calmly and effectively manage passenger situations during flight, including medical emergencies.
- Provide passengers with information regarding flight operations and destination details.
- Perform other assigned duties as required.
Application Requirements and Deadlines
A critical component of the application process is the completion of a self-guided voice interview, which requires approximately 30-40 minutes and does not involve a camera. Applicants must ensure they are in a quiet location for this interview. This essential step must be completed by December 3, 2025, at 7:00 PM Pacific Time, for the application to be considered.
Qualifications and Experience
- A minimum of two years of experience in customer or community service is required.
- Demonstrates an uncompromising dedication to safety above all else.
- Must meet specific aircraft dimension requirements to comfortably use jump seats, harnesses, navigate cabin aisles, and operate emergency exits without modification.
- Ability to consistently meet the company's grooming, uniform, and appearance standards.
- Possesses the physical ability to perform all flight attendant duties.
- Willingness and ability to relocate to any of Horizon Air's flight attendant bases, including Seattle, WA; Portland, OR; Medford, OR; Boise, ID; Spokane, WA; Anchorage, AK; and Everett, WA.
- Willingness to serve alcohol.
- Proficient with basic computer skills and comfortable using technology.
- Flexibility to work varied schedules, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Ability and willingness to travel extensively.
- Adaptable and capable of performing a variety of duties effectively, especially under stressful conditions.
- Must be able to attend and successfully complete four (4) weeks of paid training in Portland, OR.
- Must possess or be able to obtain a current passport with unlimited access to and from the United States. Non-U.S. passport holders will require appropriate travel documentation. Must be able to fly without restrictions into and out of Canada.
- Excellent verbal communication skills in English.
- High school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Legally authorized to work in the United States.
Compensation and Benefits
This union-represented position offers competitive compensation and a comprehensive benefits package. The starting rate is USD $0.00/Hr. with a first-year step rate of $20.66 per the collective bargaining agreement. Additional Information
Training Location: Portland, OR (4 weeks, paid).
Tattoo Policy: Visible tattoos on the face, front of the neck, or chest are prohibited. One tattoo the size of a quarter or smaller is permitted per hand. Tattoos in other areas must not exceed credit card size or be offensive. Specific guidelines apply for tattoos on arms, legs, feet, back of neck, and behind ears. Tattoos may only be covered by uniform pieces or approved jewelry/watches.
Airport SIDA Badge: Employees working at an airport or maintenance hangar will be required to obtain and maintain a SIDA badge provided by the airport authority. Failure to qualify for or maintain a SIDA badge will result in termination.
