Role Overview

The Flight Attendant is responsible for ensuring the safety and comfort of passengers during flights. This position requires an in-depth knowledge of inflight service duties and emergency procedures. The ideal candidate will be an authentic and gracious host, maintaining a positive and approachable demeanor with guests and fellow employees. This is a union-represented, full-time position.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure full compliance with all safety regulations and procedures.
  • Verify that all safety equipment on the aircraft is in proper working order.
  • Greet passengers, assist with seating, baggage stowage, and security.
  • Demonstrate and explain the use of safety equipment and emergency procedures.
  • Prepare and serve meals and beverages, including alcoholic drinks.
  • Effectively market onboard products and process sales using a mobile device.
  • Calmly resolve passenger situations, including medical emergencies, during flight.
  • Respond to passenger inquiries regarding flight operations and provide destination information.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support flight operations.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • A minimum of 2 years of customer or community service experience.
  • Unwavering commitment to safety as the top priority.
  • Ability to meet specific aircraft dimensions for safety equipment and egress.
  • Adherence to company grooming, uniform, and appearance standards.
  • Demonstrated physical ability to perform all flight attendant duties.
  • Flexibility to work varied schedules, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Willingness to travel extensively and relocate to any of the flight attendant bases (Seattle, WA; Portland, OR; Medford, OR; Boise, ID; Spokane, WA; Anchorage, AK; Everett, WA).
  • Willingness to serve alcohol.
  • Basic computer literacy and comfort with technology.
  • Adaptability to perform a variety of duties and perform effectively under stress.
  • Possession of or ability to obtain a current passport with unlimited access to and from the United States; ability to fly unrestricted in and out of Canada.
  • Ability to communicate fluently in English.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum age of 21 years old.
  • Authorized to work in the U.S.
  • Ability to attend a mandatory 4-week paid training program in Portland, OR.
  • Adherence to Horizon Air's tattoo policy: No visible tattoos on face, front of neck, or chest. One tattoo the size of a quarter or smaller is permitted per hand. Tattoos in other areas must not be larger than a credit card or offensive.

Application Process

A mandatory self-guided voice interview is required for application submission. This interview will take approximately 30-40 minutes to complete and requires a quiet location. All applications must be submitted, including the voice interview, by December 3 at 7:00 PM Pacific Time.

  • First-year step rate: $20.66 per hour (as per collective bargaining agreement).

Important Information

Airport SIDA Badge Requirements: Employees working at airports or maintenance hangars will be required to obtain and maintain a SIDA badge. Failure to qualify for or maintain a SIDA badge may result in termination.
