Role Summary

As a Flight Attendant for Horizon Air, representing Alaska Airlines, the incumbent will serve as the face of the company. This role demands an authentic and gracious hosting demeanor, comprehensive knowledge of inflight service duties, and proficiency in safety and emergency procedures. A strong desire to maintain a positive and approachable attitude towards guests and colleagues is essential to foster an airline that passengers love.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure full compliance with all safety regulations.
  • Verify that all safety equipment on aircraft is in working order.
  • Greet passengers, assist with seating assignments, carry-on baggage stowage, and security procedures.
  • Explain and demonstrate the use of safety equipment and emergency procedures on all aircraft.
  • Prepare and serve meals and beverages, including alcoholic beverages.
  • Effectively market onboard products, such as meals and inflight movies, and process sales using a mobile device.
  • Calmly resolve passenger situations during flight, including medical emergencies.
  • Respond to passenger inquiries regarding flight operations and provide destination information.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the company.

Job-Specific Qualifications and Requirements

Required Experience, Education & Skills:

  • A minimum of 2 years of customer or community service experience.
  • Uncompromising dedication to safety and security.
  • Ability to meet specific aircraft dimensional requirements, including fitting in jump seats, harnesses without modification, and navigating cabin aisles and emergency exits.
  • Ability to meet the company’s grooming, uniform, and appearance standards.
  • Demonstrated physical ability to perform all flight attendant duties.
  • Willingness to relocate to any of Horizon Air’s flight attendant bases: Seattle, WA; Portland, OR; Medford, OR; Boise, ID; Spokane, WA; Anchorage, AK; Everett, WA.
  • Willingness to serve alcohol.
  • Basic computer literacy and comfort with technology.
  • Flexibility to work varied schedules, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability and willingness to travel extensively.
  • Adaptability to perform a variety of duties and perform effectively under stress.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum age of 21 years old.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. and able to fly unrestricted in and out of Canada.
  • Must possess and/or obtain a current passport with unlimited access in and out of the United States; non-U.S. passport holders will require appropriate travel documentation.

Training and Compensation

Training Requirement:

Four (4) weeks of paid training will be held in Portland, OR. Attendees must be able to relocate for the duration of the training.

Starting Rate:

USD $0.00/Hr. (Note: This initial rate may be placeholder; please refer to salary details for actual compensation.)

Salary Details:

Application Process

An essential component of the application is a self-guided voice interview. This audio assessment, which requires no camera, will take approximately 30-40 minutes to complete. Candidates must ensure they are in a quiet location for the interview.

Additional Information

Tattoo Policy:

No visible tattoos on the face, front of the neck, or chest. One tattoo, the size of a quarter or smaller, is permitted per hand. Tattoos in other areas cannot exceed the size of a credit card or be offensive. Employees may have one tattoo per arm/leg/foot/back of neck/behind each ear. Tattoos on the back of the neck and behind the ears are permissible only if not visible when looking directly at the person. Tattoos may only be covered with uniform pieces or approved jewelry/watches; makeup is not permitted for coverage.

Airport SIDA Badge Requirements:

Employees working at an airport or maintenance hangar are required to obtain and maintain a SIDA badge provided by the airport authority. Failure to qualify for or maintain a SIDA badge will result in termination. Refer to the SIDA Badge Requirements document for comprehensive details.
