Horizon Air Flight Attendant
Overview
Horizon Air is seeking dedicated and customer-focused individuals to join its esteemed team as Flight Attendants. This role is pivotal in providing signature inflight experiences to passengers flying regionally throughout the Western United States. The Role
As the frontline representative of Horizon Air, and by extension Alaska Airlines, the Flight Attendant is the embodiment of exceptional hospitality. This position demands a comprehensive understanding of inflight service duties and rigorous adherence to safety protocols. A strong commitment to maintaining a positive, approachable demeanor is essential for creating an airline experience that guests will love. This is a union-represented position.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure full compliance with all aviation safety regulations.
- Verify that all safety equipment on board aircraft is in optimal working condition.
- Greet passengers, assist with seating arrangements, and manage carry-on baggage stowage.
- Provide clear explanations and demonstrations of safety equipment and emergency procedures.
- Prepare and serve a variety of meals and beverages, including alcoholic selections.
- Actively market onboard products and services, processing sales efficiently via mobile devices.
- Calmly and effectively manage passenger situations during flight, including medical emergencies.
- Respond to passenger inquiries regarding flight operations and offer destination information.
- Perform other duties as assigned to ensure seamless flight operations.
Job-Specific Experience, Education & Skills
Required Qualifications:
- A minimum of two (2) years of experience in customer service or community service.
- An unwavering commitment to safety as the highest priority.
- Ability to meet specific aircraft dimension requirements, including fitting into jump seats, harness systems, and navigating cabin aisles and emergency exits without modification.
- Capability to adhere to the company's grooming, uniform, and appearance standards.
- Demonstrated physical ability to perform all flight attendant duties.
- Willingness and ability to relocate to any of Horizon Air's flight attendant bases: Seattle, WA; Portland, OR; Medford, OR; Boise, ID; Spokane, WA; Anchorage, AK; Everett, WA.
- Willingness to serve alcohol.
- Proficiency in basic computer literacy and comfort with technology.
- Flexibility to work varied schedules, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Ability and willingness for extensive travel.
- Adaptability to perform a variety of duties and maintain effectiveness under pressure.
- Successful completion of a four (4) week paid training program in Portland, OR.
- Possession of a current passport with unlimited access to and from the United States; appropriate travel documentation for non-U.S. passport holders; unrestricted ability to fly into and out of Canada.
- Effective communication skills in English.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum age of 21 years old.
- Authorization to work in the U.S.

Training and Policies
- Paid training is conducted over four (4) weeks in Portland, OR.
- Tattoo Policy: Visible tattoos on the face, front of the neck, or chest are not permitted. One tattoo, no larger than a quarter, is allowed per hand. Tattoos in other areas must not exceed credit card size and must not be offensive. One tattoo is permitted per arm, leg, foot, back of the neck, and behind each ear. Tattoos on the back of the neck and behind the ears are only permissible if not visible when looking directly at the individual. Tattoos may only be covered by uniform items or approved jewelry/watches; makeup is not permitted for coverage.
- Airport SIDA Badge: Employees working at an airport or maintenance hangar will be required to obtain and maintain a SIDA (Security Identification Display Area) badge. Failure to qualify for or maintain a SIDA badge will result in termination.
Compensation and Rewards
Starting Rate: USD $0.00/Hr.
First Year Step Rate: $20.66 per hour (as per contract). For detailed salary information, please refer to the latest collective bargaining agreement.
