Role Overview:
Serving as the face of Horizon Air and representing Alaska Airlines, the Flight Attendant is an authentic and gracious host. This role requires a thorough understanding of inflight service duties combined with in-depth knowledge and the ability to perform necessary safety procedures during flight. A strong commitment to maintaining a positive, approachable demeanor with both guests and fellow employees is essential to fostering the welcoming environment expected of an airline people love. This position is represented by a union.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensures complete understanding and adherence to all safety regulations.
- Verifies all aircraft safety equipment is in proper working condition before flight.
- Greets passengers warmly, assists with seating, proper stowage of carry-on baggage, and ensures cabin security.
- Provides clear explanations and demonstrations of safety equipment usage and emergency procedures.
- Prepares and serves meals and beverages, including alcoholic selections.
- Effectively markets and processes sales for onboard products using a mobile device.
- Manages and calmly resolves passenger situations during flight, including handling medical emergencies.
- Answers passenger questions regarding flight operations and provides information about destinations.
- Performs other duties as assigned to ensure smooth and safe flight operations.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in customer or community service is required.
- Demonstrates an unwavering commitment to safety.
- Body size must comply with specific aircraft dimensions for safety equipment and movement within the cabin (e.g., jump seat, harness fit, aisle access).
- Ability to meet company grooming, uniform, and appearance standards, which include specific guidelines regarding tattoos (details available upon application).
- Must be able to demonstrate the physical capacity required to perform all flight attendant duties.
- Willingness and ability to relocate to any of the required flight attendant bases: Seattle, WA; Portland, OR; Medford, OR; Boise, ID; Spokane, WA; Anchorage, AK; or Everett, WA.
- Must be willing to serve alcohol.
- Basic computer literacy and comfort using technology are necessary.
- Requires flexibility to work varied schedules, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Must possess the ability and willingness to travel extensively.
- Demonstrates adaptability and the capacity to perform effectively under stressful conditions.
- Ability to attend and successfully complete a mandatory 4-week paid training program in Portland, OR.
- Must possess or be able to obtain a current passport permitting unlimited access in and out of the United States and unrestricted travel in and out of Canada. Appropriate travel documentation is also required for non-U.S. passports.
- Proficient communication skills in English are required.
- A high school diploma or equivalent is necessary.
- Applicants must be a minimum of 21 years of age.
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
Additional Information:
Applicants will be required to complete an audio assessment as part of the selection process. This position requires obtaining and maintaining an Airport SIDA badge; failure to qualify or maintain good standing will result in termination.

Compensation and Benefits:
Compensation for this role is determined by the collective bargaining agreement. The first-year step rate is $20.66 per contract hour.
