The Opportunity
As a Flight Attendant, the incumbent serves as the primary representative and gracious host for Horizon Air guests. This role demands an in-depth understanding of both inflight service duties and crucial safety procedures that may be required during flight. A strong desire to maintain a positive and approachable demeanor with both guests and fellow employees is essential to contributing to an airline people cherish. This is a union-represented position, operating under a collective bargaining agreement.
Key Responsibilities
A Flight Attendant's key duties include:
- Ensuring full understanding and compliance with all safety regulations.
- Verifying all safety equipment on the aircraft is in working order.
- Greeting passengers warmly and assisting with seating assignments, carry-on baggage stowage, and security procedures.
- Clearly explaining and demonstrating the use of safety equipment and emergency procedures for the specific aircraft type.
- Preparing and serving meals and beverages, including alcohol, in accordance with company policy.
- Effectively marketing and processing sales for onboard products such as meals and inflight entertainment using a mobile device.
- Calmly and effectively resolving passenger situations during flight, including handling medical emergencies.
- Answering questions regarding flight operations and providing destination information to guests.
- Performing other duties as assigned to ensure safe and efficient flight operations and guest satisfaction.
Required Qualifications
Candidates for the Flight Attendant position must possess:
- A minimum of two years of customer or community service experience.
- An uncompromising dedication to safety as the number-one priority.
- Body size that does not exceed specific aircraft dimensions required for safety duties (e.g., fitting in a jump seat and harness without modification, navigating cabin aisle and emergency exits).
- The ability to meet the company's grooming, uniform, and appearance standards.
- Demonstrated physical ability to perform the duties of a flight attendant, including lifting, reaching, and standing for extended periods.
- The willingness and ability to relocate to any of the designated Flight Attendant bases: Seattle, WA; Portland, OR; Medford, OR; Boise, ID; Spokane, WA; Anchorage, AK; Everett, WA.
- Willingness to serve alcohol in compliance with regulations.
- Basic computer literacy and comfort utilizing technology.
- Flexibility to work varied schedules, which include nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Ability and willingness to travel extensively.
- Adaptability to perform a variety of duties and maintain effectiveness under stressful situations.
- The ability to attend and successfully complete four weeks of paid training in Portland, OR.
- Possession of or the ability to obtain a current passport with unlimited access in and out of the United States. Employees with non-U.S. passports must have appropriate travel documentation. Must be able to fly unrestricted in and out of Canada.
- The ability to communicate fluently in English.
- A high school diploma or equivalent.
- A minimum age of 21 years old.
- Authorization to work in the U.S.
Additional Requirements
- Training: Requires mandatory attendance and successful completion of a four-week paid training program held in Portland, OR.
- Tattoo Policy: Specific grooming standards apply regarding visible tattoos. No visible tattoos are permitted on the face, front of neck, or chest. Hand tattoos are limited to one per hand, sized a quarter or smaller. Tattoos on other areas (arm, leg, foot, back of neck, behind ears, back) cannot be larger than a credit card and must not be offensive. Tattoos on the back of the neck and behind the ears are only allowed if not visible when viewed directly. Tattoos must be covered only with a uniform piece or approved jewelry/watch (covering with makeup is not permitted).
- Airport SIDA Badge: Employment requires obtaining and maintaining a Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) badge issued by the airport authority. Failure to qualify for or loss of a SIDA badge will result in termination of employment.

Salary & Benefits
Compensation for this role is determined by the collective bargaining agreement between Horizon Air and the Association of Flight Attendants (AFA). The first-year step rate is $20.66 (per contract).
