Role Summary

The Flight Attendant is responsible for ensuring the safety and comfort of passengers during flight. This requires in-depth knowledge of inflight service duties and emergency safety procedures. The role demands a high degree of professionalism, adaptability, and a constant focus on creating remarkable moments for travelers while maintaining the highest safety standards. This is a union-represented position.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintains full compliance with all safety regulations and procedures.
  • Ensures all safety equipment on the aircraft is in proper working order before departure.
  • Greets passengers warmly, assists with seating assignments, and guides with carry-on baggage stowage and security checks.
  • Clearly explains and demonstrates the use of safety equipment and emergency procedures for passengers.
  • Prepares and serves meals and beverages, including alcoholic options, in accordance with company policies.
  • Effectively promotes onboard products and services, such as meals and inflight entertainment, and processes sales using a mobile device.
  • Handles passenger situations calmly and effectively, including managing medical emergencies during flight.
  • Answers passenger questions regarding flight operations and provides destination information.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Captain or Inflight Leadership.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years of customer or community service experience.
  • Uncompromising dedication to safety principles and practices.
  • Ability to meet specific aircraft dimension requirements (e.g., fitting within jump seat, harness without modification, cabin aisle, and emergency exits).
  • Ability to adhere to the company's grooming, uniform, and appearance standards, including specific tattoo policy requirements.
  • Demonstrated physical ability to perform the duties of a Flight Attendant, including but not limited to lifting, reaching, and standing for extended periods.
  • Willingness and ability to relocate to any of the designated Flight Attendant bases: Seattle, WA; Portland, OR; Medford, OR; Boise, ID; Spokane, WA; Anchorage, AK; Everett, WA.
  • Willingness to serve alcohol.
  • Basic computer literacy and comfort utilizing technology.
  • Flexibility to work varied schedules, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability and willingness to travel extensively on short notice.
  • Proven adaptability to perform a variety of duties and maintain effectiveness under pressure.
  • Ability to attend and successfully complete 4 weeks of paid training in Portland, OR.
  • Possession of or ability to obtain a current passport with unlimited access in and out of the United States. Non-U.S. passport holders must possess appropriate travel documentation. Must be able to fly unrestricted in and out of Canada.
  • Ability to communicate fluently in English.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum age of 21 years old at the time of application.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.

Additional Details

Candidates will be required to complete an audio assessment as part of the application process, estimated to take approximately 40 minutes.

Training is a mandatory 4-week paid program conducted in Portland, OR.

The tattoo policy for this role specifies no visible tattoos on the face, front of the neck, or chest. One tattoo the size of a quarter or smaller is permitted per hand. Tattoos in other areas must not exceed the size of a credit card or be offensive. Employees may have one tattoo per arm, leg, foot, back of the neck, or behind each ear. Tattoos on the back of the neck and behind the ears are permitted only if not visible when viewed directly. Tattoos may only be covered by uniform pieces or approved jewelry/watches; covering with makeup is not permitted.

Airport SIDA Badge Requirements

Employment requires the ability to obtain and maintain a SIDA (Security Identification Display Area) badge issued by the airport authority. Failure to qualify for or maintain a SIDA badge will result in termination.

Compensation & Benefits

Starting rate for the first year is $20.66 per hour, as defined by the collective bargaining agreement. Full salary details are available within the latest collective bargaining agreement between Horizon Air and the AFA.
