As a primary representative of Horizon Air, representing Alaska Airlines, the Flight Attendant acts as an authentic and gracious host. Key Responsibilities
- Ensuring full understanding of and compliance with all safety regulations.
- Verifying all safety equipment on the aircraft is in working order.
- Greeting passengers, assisting with seating assignments, carry-on baggage stowage, and security checks.
- Explaining and demonstrating the use of safety equipment and emergency procedures on both aircraft types operated by Horizon Air.
- Preparing and serving meals and beverages, including alcoholic drinks.
- Effectively marketing onboard products, such as meals and inflight entertainment, and processing sales using a mobile device.
- Calmly resolving passenger situations during flight, including medical emergencies.
- Answering questions regarding flight operations and providing destination information.
- Performing other duties as assigned to ensure smooth flight operations and passenger comfort.
Qualifications
Required Experience, Education & Skills
- A minimum of two years of customer or community service experience.
- Uncompromising dedication to safety protocols and procedures.
- Ability to fit within specific aircraft dimensions (e.g., jump seat, harness without modification, cabin aisle, emergency exits).
- Ability to meet the company's grooming, uniform, and appearance standards.
- Demonstrated physical ability to perform the duties required of a Flight Attendant.
- Willingness to relocate to any of the Flight Attendant bases: Seattle, WA; Portland, OR; Medford, OR; Boise, ID; Spokane, WA; Anchorage, AK; Everett, WA.
- Willingness to serve alcohol.
- Basic computer literacy and comfort using technology.
- Flexibility to work varied schedules, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Ability and willingness to travel extensively.
- Possess adaptability to perform a variety of duties effectively, including under stress.
- Ability to attend four weeks of paid training in Portland, OR.
- Possess and/or obtain a current passport with unlimited access in and out of the United States. Employees with non-U.S. passports must possess any appropriate travel documentation. Ability to fly unrestricted in and out of Canada is required.
- Ability to communicate fluently in English.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum age of 21 years old at the time of application.
- Authorization to work in the U.S. is required.
Additional Requirements
- Training: Four weeks of paid training is required, held in Portland, OR. An audio assessment is part of the application process, taking approximately 40 minutes to complete.
- Tattoo Policy: No visible tattoos are permitted on the face, front of the neck, or chest. One tattoo the size of a quarter or smaller is allowed per hand. Tattoos in other areas cannot be larger than a credit card or be offensive. Employees may have one tattoo per arm/leg/foot/back of neck/behind each ear. Tattoos on the back of the neck and behind the ears are permitted only if not visible when viewed directly. Tattoos may only be covered by a uniform piece or approved jewelry/watch (makeup is not permitted for covering).
- Airport SIDA Badge Requirements: Employees working at an airport or maintenance hangar are required to obtain and maintain a SIDA badge issued by the airport authority. Failure to qualify for or loss of a SIDA badge will result in termination.
Compensation & Benefits
This is a non-exempt, full-time, regular frontline position. The starting rate is $20.66 per hour (first-year step rate) as defined by the collective bargaining agreement. Compensation and benefits are subject to the collective bargaining agreement between Horizon Air and the AFA.
