Role Details and Responsibilities

Hiring for Hawaiian Airlines' West Coast bases.
Primary Function: Safety and Emergency Response
The foremost responsibility of a Hawaiian Airlines Flight Attendant is to ensure guest safety aboard company aircraft. This requires physical and psychological readiness to perform all safety procedures and to assist guests effectively during emergencies. Flight Attendants operate in a dynamic environment, adeptly handling emergency situations and engaging with passengers of all personalities in a pleasant and attentive manner.
Secondary Function: Guest Service and the Aloha Experience
In addition to safety, Flight Attendants provide a consistent and high level of customer service within the aircraft cabin. This includes offering food and beverage service, all while ensuring an unsurpassed Aloha experience. This is a union-represented position.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Preflight Preparation & Briefings: Attend briefings to review flight details, including weather, routes, emergency procedures, and onboard services. Prepare the aircraft cabin for boarding and departure.
- Guest Interaction & Assistance: Provide a warm welcome to guests, assist with seating and luggage, and respond to inquiries with prompt and courteous service throughout the flight.
- Safety Demonstrations & Compliance: Conduct safety demonstrations for equipment such as seat belts, oxygen masks, and life jackets. Monitor and professionally address guest compliance with safety regulations.
- Emergency Response & Incident Reporting: Guide and assist guests during emergency procedures, including evacuations. Administer first aid as needed and meticulously report all incidents.
- In-Flight Service Delivery: Execute food and beverage service according to airline standards. Process payments for onboard purchases.
- Landing Preparation & Post-Flight Duties: Prepare guests and the cabin for landing and assist with deplaning. Ensure the cabin is secure post-flight.
- Training & Regulatory Compliance: Successfully complete annual FAA-approved recertification and maintain up-to-date knowledge of emergency procedures per FAA and airline regulations. Obtain and maintain authorization for unescorted access to aircraft and SIDA areas.
- Teamwork, Professionalism & Physical Readiness: Collaborate effectively with crew members to ensure a seamless guest experience. Maintain professionalism, identify and escalate potential issues, and meet the physical demands of flying, including varied schedules.
- Emergency Duties: In emergency situations, perform critical duties such as assisting ill passengers, evacuating the aircraft in smoke-filled conditions, operating emergency equipment, handling emergency exits (which may weigh up to 60 pounds), and safely egressing via emergency slides from aircraft doors. All outlined duties, including emergency responses, are considered essential functions of the Flight Attendant role.
Additional Role Information
- A professional image is required. Visible body art (tattoos), facial piercings, multiple or upper ear piercings, gauge piercings, or extreme hair colors/styles are not permitted while in uniform or in public areas.
- Assignment to a base will occur upon hiring.
- New training classes are scheduled to commence in 2026.
- FAA Training Requirement: An intensive, unpaid eight (8) week training program will be conducted in Honolulu.
Job-Specific Experience, Education & Skills
Required Qualifications:
- A minimum of two (2) years of direct customer experience in the hospitality or airline industry, OR four (4) years of customer contact and issue resolution in industries such as retail, education, healthcare, or professional services.
- Proficiency in speaking and reading Korean (business level proficiency).
- Ability to achieve a vertical reach of 82 inches.
- Successful completion of annual FAA-approved recertification provided by Hawaiian Airlines.
- Ability to learn and maintain current knowledge of emergency procedures as per Hawaiian Airlines and FAA regulations.
- Demonstrated strong customer service skills and the ability to de-escalate and resolve challenging customer situations effectively.
- Capacity to work in an environment with varying climatic conditions, gravitational loads due to turbulence, and cabin pressurization changes. Ability to stand for extended periods (four to seventeen hours), involving stooping, twisting, and pulling/pushing cabin equipment.
- Ability to lift 25 lbs. from floor to above shoulder height.
- Comfortable participating in emergency training in a swimming pool and water.
- Ability to properly secure oneself in a jump seat with a harness and move expeditiously through the cabin aisle in all situations.
- Successful completion of an FAA-approved, unpaid eight (8) week intensive training program.
- Ability to serve alcoholic beverages.
- Willingness to relocate within Hawaii or the continental U.S.
- Proficient in reading, writing, and speaking English.
- Successful completion of a tuberculosis (TB) test.
- Possession of a valid passport and the ability to secure applicable visas for international travel.
- Legal authorization to travel from all countries served by Hawaiian Airlines. Travel documents must remain valid throughout training and employment.
- Availability to work flexible schedules, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Minimum age of 21 years.
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
Preferred Qualifications:
- A college education or degree.

- First year step rate: $32.00 (per contract).
Hawaiian Seniority List Pay Details:
- First year step rate: $28.96 (per contract).
