Korean Language Qualified Flight Attendant
Hawaiian Airlines is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Korean Language Qualified Flight Attendant to join its 'ohana. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and comfort of guests while delivering exceptional Hawaiian hospitality. He or she will be responsible for performing safety procedures, assisting guests in emergency situations, and providing a consistent level of customer service in the aircraft cabin.
Key Responsibilities:
- Attend preflight briefings to receive information on weather, altitudes, routes, emergency procedures, crew coordination, flight lengths, food and beverage services, and guest numbers.
- Greet and direct guests to their assigned seats, answering flight-related inquiries with a pleasant demeanor.
- Assist guests with stowing carry-on luggage in overhead compartments or under cabin seats.
- Demonstrate the use of safety equipment and explain emergency procedures before takeoff.
- Monitor the aisles to ensure guest compliance with safety regulations, addressing any infractions and resolving difficult situations effectively.
- Direct and assist guests during emergency procedures, including aircraft evacuation.
- Provide food and beverage service according to established procedures.
- Collect and reconcile payments for onboard products, such as alcoholic beverages, meals, and duty-free items.
- Administer first aid when necessary.
- Prepare written and verbal reports of emergency or safety incidents during flight.
- Prepare guests and the aircraft for landing, following established procedures.
- Satisfactorily complete annual FAA-approved re-certification provided by Hawaiian Airlines.
- Maintain current knowledge and competency in emergency procedures according to Hawaiian Airlines and FAA regulations.
- Work alternative schedules, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Interact effectively and professionally with colleagues and guests.
- Collaborate with other crew members to deliver an exceptional Aloha experience by promptly addressing guest inquiries, requests, and complaints.
- Identify and report potential problems or safety concerns.
- Work in varied climates and locations across the globe and adapt to variable shifts.
- Perform duties at high altitudes.
- Meet the physical demands of the job.
- Assist ill or incapacitated passengers and fellow crew members.
- Evacuate the aircraft in heavy smoke during a cabin fire.
- Handle and operate oxygen bottles and fire extinguishers.
- Remove and lift emergency cabin windows (weighing up to 60 pounds).
- Jump down the emergency slide from a height of approximately 24.5 feet.
All listed duties, including emergency procedures, are essential functions of the Flight Attendant role.
Minimum Requirements:
- Must be 21 years of age or older at the time of application.
- Possession of a high school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Presentation of a professional image. Restrictions apply to visible body art, piercings, and extreme hair styles while in uniform and in public view.
- Demonstrated strong customer service skills and the ability to resolve difficult customer situations effectively.
- Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English.
- Advanced/business-level proficiency in spoken Korean and the ability to read Korean characters (Hangul).
- Successful completion of an FAA-approved, unpaid eight-week intensive training program provided by Hawaiian Airlines.
- Ability to relocate within the state of Hawaii or the continental U.S.
- Ability to work alternative schedules, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Ability to reach 82 inches vertically.
- Ability to sit in a cabin crew jump seat with seatbelt and shoulder harness fastened.
- Successful completion of pre-employment requirements, including drug test, tuberculosis (TB) screening, and background check.
- Legal authorization to work in the United States.
- Possession of a valid passport and ability to secure applicable visas for travel to countries served by Hawaiian Airlines.
- Legal right to travel from all countries served by Hawaiian Airlines.
- Valid travel documents throughout all phases of training and employment.
- Ability to work in an environment subject to varying climatic conditions, turbulence-induced gravitational loads, and variable cabin pressurization.
- Ability to stand for extended periods (up to four to seventeen hours) and perform tasks requiring stooping, twisting, and pulling or pushing cabin equipment.
- Current employees must be in good standing with the company.
Hawaiian Airlines is regulated by the Department of Transportation (DOT) and conducts post-offer and/or pre-employment drug testing to determine the presence of Marijuana, Cocaine, Opioids, PCP (Phencyclidine), and Amphetamine. Failure to submit to testing or positive indications of drug use will render the applicant ineligible for employment.
In addition to routine employment eligibility verification, U.S.-based airlines must gather information to validate country of citizenship and country of birth. Upon hire, documentation proving current country citizenship and birthplace must be provided.
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States, for any employer, without sponsorship. Hawaiian Airlines will not sponsor applicants for nonimmigrant or immigrant employment visas or status for this position.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Two years of direct customer experience in the hospitality or airline industry, OR four years of customer contact and customer service issue resolution with the general public in industries such as retail, education, health care, and/or professional services.
- College education or degree.
