The Role

The Flight Attendant is a vital safety and security professional responsible for ensuring the well-being, security, and comfort of all passengers onboard the aircraft. This role requires disciplined adherence to all Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations and company guidelines while simultaneously providing excellent customer service, facilitating in-flight product sales, and managing potential security or emergency situations effectively. The Flight Attendant is entrusted with fostering a friendly and easy travel environment for every customer.

Key Responsibilities and Essential Functions

The successful incumbent executes a broad range of duties centered on regulatory compliance, safety, and service delivery:

  • Ensures strict adherence to all Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs) and established Frontier Airlines operational policies and procedures.
  • Conducts comprehensive pre-flight safety checks of cabin and emergency equipment prior to departure.
  • Manages and initiates emergency evacuation procedures in the unlikely event they are required.
  • Maintains cabin safety and security during all phases of flight, including meticulous inspection and storage of all carry-on luggage.
  • Provides clear instruction and demonstration of onboard safety features to all passengers.
  • Prepares and secures doors, and utilizes the Public Address (PA) system to convey essential departure and arrival information.
  • Sets up the galley, verifies supply counts, and manages the serving and selling of snacks, beverages (including alcohol), and other onboard products.
  • Responds professionally and decisively to in-flight emergencies and security concerns.
  • Administers emergency medical assistance, including performing CPR and basic first aid, as required.
  • Performs physical tasks necessary for safety and service, which include frequent walking, bending to ankle level, and reaching above shoulder level to retrieve or store items.
  • Maintains professional appearance and ensures compliance with all Inflight uniform and appearance guidelines while in public view.

Candidate Qualifications and Requirements

Frontier Airlines seeks highly dependable candidates who meet the following strict criteria:

  • High School Diploma or General Educational Development (GED) certificate is mandatory.
  • Candidates must be a minimum of 20 years of age to begin the interview process.
  • One (1) to two (2) years of prior customer service experience is preferred.
  • Possession of a valid passport is required, demonstrating the ability to travel unrestricted into and out of the United States and to all current and future international destinations served by the airline.
  • Must be willing to relocate to an assigned base location.
  • Must commit to a highly flexible work schedule, encompassing nights, weekends, holidays, extended hours, and the capacity to adapt quickly to schedule changes on short notice.
  • Must be prepared for extended travel durations while operating both international and domestic routes.
  • Must present a neat, professional appearance and strictly adhere to Frontier Inflight uniform and appearance standards.
  • Tattoo Policy: Tattoos are prohibited on the hands or anywhere above the collarbone (e.g., neck, face). All other visible tattoos must be fully covered by the uniform or concealed using conservative, skin-tone, waterproof makeup when there is potential for brief exposure during the normal execution of duties. Bandages or compression sleeves are not permitted for tattoo concealment while in uniform.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Exceptional interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills are essential.
  • Must be fully fluent in reading, speaking, and writing the English language.
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively with passengers and provide reassurance in hurried or stressful operational environments.
  • Capacity to excel as both an independent leader and a collaborative team member.

Physical Effort and Work Environment

The role demands significant physical fitness and resilience:

  • Physical Demands: Requires frequent repetitive motions, including bending and standing for extended periods. Must possess the physical strength to operate all emergency equipment and exits, including those requiring the manipulation of heavy components (e.g., door systems).
  • Must be able to push, pull, or move objects up to 100 pounds occasionally (e.g., galley carts) and lift a 35 lb luggage piece from the floor to the overhead compartment (67 inches high).
  • Safety Requirements: Must be secured in all jump seats utilizing the standard safety belt and shoulder harness without requiring extensions or modifications. Requires sufficient 20/20 vision and hearing to interpret and respond to onboard systems, chimes, and announcements.
  • Work Conditions: The work environment is typically fast-paced, physically demanding, and subject to varying conditions inherent to aviation, including air turbulence, engine noise, confined spaces, variable climate conditions, and irregular work shifts (days, weekends, evenings, and red-eyes).
