Flight Instructor

FlightSafety provides training for pilots, technicians, and other aviation professionals worldwide, utilizing advanced full-flight simulators and award-winning maintenance training programs.

The Flight Instructor will conduct pilot ground and simulator training for clients, covering core, specialty, and enrichment courses. Responsibilities include developing and preparing training materials aligned with the applicable curriculum and client needs. The instructor will evaluate trainee progress, recommending qualification or further training as necessary. Accurate training records will be maintained for each client, supporting their achievement of specified objectives. The Instructor proactively identifies and addresses client training issues, seeking assistance when needed. Maintaining Instructor qualifications in accordance with regulatory requirements is essential.

Qualifications

Minimum qualifications include participation in FlightSafety's DOT Drug and Alcohol testing program. Candidates must possess an unrestricted ATP certificate or an ICAO member state Airline Transport Pilot License. In the absence of an ATP, candidates must meet the requirements of 14 CFR part 61.153 and 14 CFR part 61.64 without a Supervised Operating Experience (SOE) limitation. A minimum of one unrestricted PIC type rating is required. Preferred experience includes FAR Part 135, FAR Part 121, or military training. A preferred minimum of 2,500 hours of total flight time is desired.

Skills and Abilities

The ideal candidate will demonstrate knowledge of aviation safety standards and practices and a strong understanding of common aviation regulations. They must possess the ability to manage classes and teach effectively, with first-level facilitation and customer service skills. A willingness to be coachable and receptive to feedback is critical for ongoing professional development.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

This role requires the regular use of hands for manipulating controls and the ability to communicate effectively. Physical requirements include the ability to stand, walk, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The candidate must possess the physical range of motion to operate simulator controls, including rudder controls and anti-torque pedals. Specific vision abilities, including close, distance, color, and peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus, are required. The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds regularly and up to 25 pounds frequently. The work environment involves proximity to moving mechanical parts and may include exposure to high, precarious places, outside weather conditions, and potentially wet or humid conditions, fumes, airborne particles, chemicals, extreme temperatures, electrical shock hazards, radiation risks, and vibration.
