Job Summary

The Flight Instructor is responsible for delivering exceptional ground and simulator flight instruction, strictly adhering to aviation regulations and FlightSafety International's rigorous training principles. This pivotal role ensures the comprehensive preparation of aviation professionals for success.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conducts comprehensive pilot ground and simulator training for clients enrolled in core, specialty, or enrichment courses.
  • Develops and prepares high-quality training materials to facilitate effective training delivery, ensuring alignment with applicable curricula and client needs.
  • Evaluates and accurately measures trainee progress, providing recommendations for qualification or additional instructional support.
  • Maintains precise and detailed training records for each client, supporting their achievement of specific training objectives.
  • Proactively identifies potential client training issues and seeks appropriate assistance before implementation.
  • Ensures continuous adherence to and maintenance of all required instructor qualifications and regulatory standards.

Qualifications

Education

  • No specific minimum educational degree is required for this position.

Experience

  • Willingness and ability to participate in FlightSafety International’s DOT Drug and Alcohol testing program.
  • Possession of an unrestricted Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) certificate, or an Airline Transport Pilot License from an ICAO member state.
  • Alternatively, if an ATP certificate is not held, the candidate must meet the requirements of:
    • 14 CFR Part 61.153
    • 14 CFR Part 61.64 without a Supervised Operating Experience (SOE) limitation.
  • A minimum of one unrestricted Pilot-in-Command (PIC) type rating.
  • Preferred: Demonstrated experience in FAR Part 135, FAR Part 121, or military training environments.
  • Preferred: A total flight time exceeding 2,500 hours.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

The Flight Instructor role frequently requires the use of hands for operating controls, reaching with hands and arms, and effective verbal communication. Physical activities may include standing, walking, sitting, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling.

Specific physical dexterity is essential for operating simulator controls, including the precise manipulation of rudder and/or anti-torque pedals with both feet, and numerous other controls from the instructor's chair within the simulator device. The ability to safely enter and exit the simulator via a provided ramp, move seamlessly between the instructor station, screen, and podium in a classroom setting, and safely exit a malfunctioned simulator even when the device is in a severely pitched attitude, is required.

Required vision abilities encompass close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

The position involves regular lifting and/or moving of up to 10 pounds, with frequent lifting and/or moving of up to 25 pounds.

The work environment may involve proximity to moving mechanical parts, work in elevated or precarious locations, exposure to outdoor weather conditions, and occasional exposure to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, extreme cold or heat, risks of electrical shock, radiation, and vibration.
