Purpose of Position

The Flight Instructor is instrumental in delivering exceptional ground and simulator flight instruction, ensuring strict adherence to aviation regulations and FlightSafety's rigorous training principles.

Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive pilot ground and advanced simulator training for clients enrolled in core, specialty, or enrichment courses.
  • Develop and prepare high-quality training materials to support effective delivery, meticulously aligning with client needs and applicable curricula.
  • Evaluate and accurately measure trainee progress, providing recommendations for qualification or additional instructional support.
  • Maintain precise and detailed training records for each client, essential for tracking progress and ensuring the successful achievement of learning objectives.
  • Proactively identify potential client training challenges and seek appropriate assistance to ensure successful outcomes.
  • Uphold and maintain all required Instructor qualifications in strict accordance with regulatory standards and company policies.

Minimum Qualifications

Education:

  • No specific minimum educational degree is required for this position.

Experience:

  • The ability and willingness to participate in FlightSafety’s DOT Drug and Alcohol testing program.
  • Possession of an unrestricted Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) certificate or an equivalent ICAO member state Airline Transport Pilot License.
  • Alternatively, candidates without an ATP must meet the stringent requirements of 14 CFR part 61.153 and 14 CFR part 61.64, specifically without a Supervised Operating Experience (SOE) limitation.
  • A minimum of one unrestricted Pilot-in-Command (PIC) type rating.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior instructional or operational experience under FAR Part 135, FAR Part 121, or military aviation training.
  • A minimum of 2,500 hours of total flight time.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Comprehensive knowledge of aviation safety standards and best practices.
  • Thorough understanding of common aviation regulations (e.g., FAA, ICAO).
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively manage training sessions and deliver instruction with clarity and impact.
  • Strong foundational facilitation skills to guide and engage learners.
  • Excellent customer service skills, fostering a positive and supportive learning environment.
  • A receptive and coachable attitude, with the ability to integrate feedback for continuous professional development.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

The Flight Instructor's role involves regular use of hands for detailed manipulation of controls, reaching, and effective communication (talking/hearing). Physical activities may include standing, walking, sitting, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling. Specific physical requirements demand the ability to: manipulate rudder/anti-torque controls with both feet; reach and operate numerous controls within a simulator from the instructor's station; safely enter and exit simulator devices via ramps; move efficiently within classroom settings between the instructor station, screen and podium; and safely egress from a simulator even in a severely pitched attitude. Essential visual abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The role regularly requires lifting and moving up to 10 pounds and frequently up to 25 pounds. The work environment frequently involves proximity to moving mechanical parts. Occasionally, the instructor may operate in high or precarious locations, outdoor weather conditions, and may be exposed to varying environmental factors such as humidity, fumes, chemicals, extreme temperatures, electrical shock, radiation risks, and vibration.
