Position Summary
FlightSafety International is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Flight Instructor to deliver exceptional ground and simulator flight instruction. This vital role ensures that all training is conducted in strict accordance with prevailing aviation regulations and FlightSafety's rigorous training principles, fostering the development of competent and confident aviation professionals.
Key Responsibilities
The Flight Instructor will be responsible for a comprehensive range of duties, including:
- Conducting high-quality pilot ground and simulator training for clients receiving core, specialty, or enrichment courses.
- Developing and meticulously preparing training materials to support effective delivery, ensuring alignment with applicable curriculum standards and client needs.
- Evaluating and precisely measuring trainee progress, subsequently recommending individuals for qualification or proposing additional training as required.
- Accurately completing and maintaining detailed training records for each client, thereby supporting their successful achievement of specified objectives.
- Proactively identifying potential client training issues and seeking appropriate assistance or resolution prior to the commencement or continuation of training.
- Upholding and consistently maintaining all required Instructor qualifications in adherence to regulatory mandates.
Qualifications
Required Experience and Certifications
- Must be able and willing to participate in FlightSafety’s DOT Drug and Alcohol testing program.
- Possession of an unrestricted Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) certificate, or an equivalent Airline Transport Pilot License issued by an ICAO member state.
- Candidates without an ATP must satisfy the requirements of 14 CFR part 61.153 and 14 CFR part 61.64 without a Supervised Operating Experience (SOE) limitation.
- A minimum of one unrestricted Pilot-In-Command (PIC) type rating.
Preferred Experience
- Prior training experience under FAR Part 135, FAR Part 121, or military training environments.
- A minimum of 2,500 hours of total flight time.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements
This role demands a degree of physical capability and adaptability to various work environments. The Flight Instructor is regularly required to use hands for controls, reach with arms, and engage in verbal communication. Activities may include standing, walking, sitting, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling. Specific physical requirements include:
- Ability to reach, exert pressure, and manipulate rudder controls or anti-torque pedals with both feet.
- Capability to reach and manipulate numerous controls within the simulator device from the instructor's chair.
- Ability to safely enter and exit the simulator device via the provided ramp.
- Movement between the instructor station, screen, and podium while conducting classroom instruction.
- Capacity to exit a malfunctioned simulator, even when the device is in a severely pitched attitude.
- Specific vision abilities, including close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus, are essential.
- The role involves regularly lifting and/or moving up to 10 pounds and frequently lifting and/or moving up to 25 pounds.
- The work environment frequently involves proximity to moving mechanical parts. Occasionally, the instructor may be exposed to high or precarious places, outside weather conditions, wet/humid conditions, fumes, airborne particles, toxic/caustic chemicals, extreme temperatures, risk of electrical shock, radiation, and vibration.
