Position Overview

FlightSafety International is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Flight Instructor to deliver exceptional ground and simulator flight instruction. This pivotal role ensures clients receive comprehensive training in strict adherence to aviation regulations and FlightSafety's rigorous training principles, fostering the development of competent and confident aviation professionals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct pilot ground and simulator training for clients enrolled in core, specialty, or enrichment courses.
  • Develop and prepare comprehensive training materials aligned with applicable curricula to effectively meet client needs.
  • Evaluate and accurately measure trainee progress, providing recommendations for qualification or additional training as required.
  • Maintain meticulous and accurate training records for each client, thereby facilitating their successful achievement of specified objectives.
  • Proactively identify potential client training issues and seek appropriate assistance prior to the commencement of instruction.
  • Ensure continuous maintenance of instructor qualifications in full compliance with all pertinent regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

Education

  • No specific educational degree requirement.

Required Experience & Certifications

  • Willingness and ability to participate in FlightSafety International's DOT Drug and Alcohol testing program.
  • Possession of an unrestricted Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) certificate, or an equivalent Airline Transport Pilot License issued by an ICAO member state.
  • If not holding an ATP, the candidate must satisfy the requirements of 14 CFR part 61.153 and 14 CFR part 61.64 without a Supervised Operating Experience (SOE) limitation.
  • A minimum of one unrestricted Pilot-In-Command (PIC) type rating.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience in FAR Part 135, FAR Part 121, or military aviation training environments.
  • A minimum of 2,500 hours of total flight time.

Physical Demands & Work Environment

The Flight Instructor role necessitates regular use of hands for fingering, handling, or feeling objects, tools, or controls, and requires reaching with hands and arms. Verbal communication and hearing abilities are essential. The employee may also be required to stand, walk, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and possess the ability to taste or smell.

Specific physical capabilities include:

  • Reaching, exerting pressure, and manipulating rudder controls and/or anti-torque with both feet.
  • Reaching and manipulating numerous controls within the simulator device from the instructor's chair.
  • Entering and exiting the simulator device via the provided ramp.
  • Moving between the instructor station, screen, and podium while instructing in a classroom setting.
  • Exiting a malfunctioned simulator while the device is in a severely pitched attitude.

Visual acuity required for this position includes close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

The employee must regularly lift and/or move objects weighing up to 10 pounds, and frequently lift and/or move objects weighing up to 25 pounds.

The work environment frequently involves proximity to moving mechanical parts. Employees may occasionally work in elevated or precarious locations, in outdoor weather conditions, and may be exposed to wet or humid conditions, fumes, airborne particulates, toxic or caustic chemicals, extreme temperatures (cold/heat), risk of electrical shock, risk of radiation, and vibration.
