The Flight Instructor is responsible for delivering exceptional ground and simulator flight instruction. This training is conducted in strict accordance with applicable aviation regulations and FlightSafety's established training principles, ensuring the highest standards of safety and effectiveness.
While performing the duties of this role, the employee is regularly required to use hands for controls and manipulation; reach with hands and arms; and communicate verbally or through hearing. The role may require standing, walking, sitting, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, tasting, or smelling. Specific physical demands include the ability to reach, exert pressure, and manipulate rudder and anti-torque controls with both feet; reach and manipulate numerous simulator controls from the instructor chair; enter and exit the simulator via the provided ramp; move within the classroom environment between the instructor station, screen, and podium; and safely exit a malfunctioned simulator even when pitched severely. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
The work environment frequently involves working near moving mechanical parts. Occasional exposure may include working in high, precarious locations or outside weather conditions, and exposure to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes, airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, extreme cold or heat, risk of electrical shock, risk of radiation, and vibration.
