Role Summary

The Flight Instructor is responsible for delivering exceptional ground and simulator flight instruction. This training is conducted in strict accordance with applicable aviation regulations and FlightSafety's established training principles, ensuring the highest standards of safety and effectiveness.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct pilot ground and simulator training for clients enrolled in core, specialty, or enrichment courses.
  • Develop and prepare necessary training materials to support effective delivery, aligning with client needs and the relevant curriculum.
  • Evaluate and accurately measure trainee progress, providing recommendations for qualification or additional training as needed.
  • Maintain meticulous and accurate training records specific to each client to support their success in achieving their training objectives.
  • Identify potential client training issues proactively and seek appropriate assistance prior to executing training sessions.
  • Ensure personal Instructor qualifications are maintained in full compliance with all regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

Experience:

  • Must be able and willing to participate in FlightSafety’s DOT Drug and Alcohol testing program.
  • Possession of an unrestricted Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) certificate, or an equivalent ICAO member state Airline Transport Pilot License.
  • If not holding an ATP, must meet the requirements specified in 14 CFR part 61.153 and 14 CFR part 61.64 without a Supervised Operating Experience (SOE) limitation.
  • A minimum of one unrestricted Pilot-in-Command (PIC) type rating is required.
  • Preferred experience includes prior training in FAR Part 135, FAR Part 121 operations, or military aviation.
  • A minimum of 2,500 hours of total flight time is preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Comprehensive knowledge of aviation safety standards and best practices.
  • Strong understanding of common aviation regulations.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively manage classes and deliver instruction.
  • Proficiency in first-level facilitation skills.
  • Capability in providing first-level customer service.
  • Ability to be receptive to coaching and feedback, demonstrating a commitment to continuous professional development.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

While performing the duties of this role, the employee is regularly required to use hands for controls and manipulation; reach with hands and arms; and communicate verbally or through hearing. The role may require standing, walking, sitting, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, tasting, or smelling. Specific physical demands include the ability to reach, exert pressure, and manipulate rudder and anti-torque controls with both feet; reach and manipulate numerous simulator controls from the instructor chair; enter and exit the simulator via the provided ramp; move within the classroom environment between the instructor station, screen, and podium; and safely exit a malfunctioned simulator even when pitched severely. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

The work environment frequently involves working near moving mechanical parts. Occasional exposure may include working in high, precarious locations or outside weather conditions, and exposure to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes, airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, extreme cold or heat, risk of electrical shock, risk of radiation, and vibration.
