Job Summary

The Flight Instructor plays a pivotal role in delivering exceptional ground and simulator flight instruction. This position ensures that all training adheres strictly to aviation regulations and FlightSafety's rigorous training principles, fostering the development of highly skilled and competent aviation professionals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct pilot ground and simulator training across a spectrum of core, specialty, and enrichment courses.
  • Develop and prepare comprehensive training materials tailored to client needs and in alignment with applicable curricula.
  • Accurately evaluate and measure trainee progress, providing recommendations for qualification or additional instructional support.
  • Maintain precise training records for each client, supporting their successful achievement of training objectives.
  • Proactively identify potential client training challenges and seek appropriate assistance to ensure effective resolution.
  • Uphold and maintain all necessary Instructor qualifications in accordance with regulatory mandates.

Qualifications

Experience and Certifications

  • An unrestricted Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) certificate or an equivalent ICAO member state Airline Transport Pilot License is required.
  • Candidates without an ATP must meet the requirements of 14 CFR part 61.153 and 14 CFR part 61.64 without a Supervised Operating Experience (SOE) limitation.
  • A minimum of one unrestricted Pilot-in-Command (PIC) type rating is essential.
  • Preferred Experience: Candidates with experience under FAR Part 135, FAR Part 121, or military training backgrounds are highly encouraged to apply.
  • Preferred Flight Time: A minimum of 2,500 hours of total flight time is preferred.
  • Willingness and ability to participate in FlightSafety's DOT Drug and Alcohol testing program are mandatory.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Comprehensive knowledge of aviation safety standards and practices.
  • Familiarity with common aviation regulations.
  • Proven ability to effectively manage classroom environments and deliver instruction.
  • Demonstrated first-level facilitation skills.
  • Strong first-level customer service skills.
  • Openness to coaching and receiving feedback for continuous professional development.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

This role demands a range of physical abilities necessary for the operational environment. The employee will regularly use hands for fine manipulation, reach with arms, and communicate effectively. Tasks may involve standing, walking, sitting, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling.

Specific physical requirements include:

  • Ability to reach, exert pressure, and manipulate rudder and/or anti-torque controls with both feet.
  • Capability to reach and manipulate numerous controls within the simulator device from the instructor's chair.
  • Ability to safely enter and exit the simulator device via the provided ramp.
  • Freedom of movement between the instructor station, screen, and podium while instructing in the classroom.
  • Capability to exit a malfunctioned simulator, potentially while the device is in a severely pitched attitude.
  • Required vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

The work environment frequently involves proximity to moving mechanical parts. Occasional exposure may include working in high or precarious places, outside weather conditions, wet/humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, extreme cold/heat, risk of electrical shock, radiation, and vibration.
