Position Summary
FlightSafety International seeks a dedicated and highly skilled KC-46 Pilot Instructor. This pivotal role is responsible for delivering comprehensive simulator-based training within the Weapon System Trainer (WST), encompassing all pre-briefings and debriefings, for U.S. Air Force and Allied Nation KC-46 Pilots attending Quarterly Refresher training. The Instructor also plays a crucial role in instructing and meticulously measuring the training progress of both Pilot and Maintenance students engaged in established aircrew training curricula.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct Quarterly Refresher training utilizing various instructional devices, including classrooms, Computer-based Training (CBT), the Weapon System Trainer (WST), and the KC-46 aircraft itself.
- Deliver specialized ground-based training for Aircrew Members focusing on tanker and receiver operating procedures, alongside diagnosing and remediating student challenges.
- Provide Initial and Recurring training for Maintenance Personnel enrolled in Engine Run courses.
- Lead comprehensive briefings, debriefings, and counseling sessions with Aircrew Members and Maintenance Personnel to cultivate and sustain superior levels of technical acumen and operational proficiency.
- Extract and analyze student performance data, meticulously preparing for student review sessions.
- Serve as the authoritative KC-46 Pilot Subject Matter Expert (SME) for students and relevant personnel.
- Uphold and consistently demonstrate exceptional standards of instruction, knowledge, capabilities, and expertise in aviation training.
- Continuously develop and maintain comprehensive knowledge of KC-46 aircraft systems and operating procedures.
- Exhibit consistent and exceptional knowledge and application of instructional principles and theories pertinent to aircrew training systems.
- Contribute actively by providing valuable input for courseware corrections, modifications, and updates to training policies and procedures.
- Provide support for various project and development initiatives as assigned.
- Operate and manage the Student Management System efficiently.
Additional Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform essential administrative duties related to training, including accurate record-keeping, diligent monitoring of student progress, and effective counseling.
- Participate in Weapon System Trainer (WST) certification testing as required.
- Conduct thorough reviews of assigned Computer-based Training (CBT) and classroom lesson plans to ensure content accuracy, thereby guaranteeing the highest level of Quality Assurance (QA) as curriculum corrections, modifications, and updates are recommended and integrated.
- Support the development of new courseware and diligently maintain established training curricula.
- Contribute to training device development efforts.
- Participate in at least one annual aircraft familiarization flight as a non-flying, additional crew member.
- Undertake domestic and international travel as required by the role.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support operational needs.
Qualifications
Minimum Education:
- A Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education, relevant experience, and specialized training is required.
Minimum Experience:
- Demonstrated experience as a qualified Tanker Air-to-Air Refueling (AAR) Pilot Flight Instructor or as a Tanker AAR Aircrew Training System (ATS) Pilot Instructor. This experience must have been acquired within five (5) years preceding the date of assignment to the KC-46 ATS.
- A minimum of 200 flying hours logged in U.S. Air Force or Allied Nation aircraft, or an equivalent flight simulator, with at least 50% of these hours accrued in the actual aircraft.
- Prior Receiver Air-to-Air Refueling (AAR) Instructor experience is highly desirable.
- A Type Rating in the B-767 aircraft is preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Ability to morally and ethically influence others towards the successful achievement of program goals.
- Fluency in reading, writing, speaking, and understanding the English language.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively interface with students and provide immediate remediation or determine alternative courses of action when necessary.
- Possession of basic proficiency in personal computer usage and standard software applications, including word processing programs, spreadsheets, and databases.
- Capability to successfully complete an annual internal standardization evaluation.
- Current possession of, or the proven ability to obtain, a SECRET security clearance.
