Position Summary:
A Flight Instructor is responsible for delivering exceptional ground school and simulator flight instruction in strict adherence to aviation regulations and FlightSafety's established training principles. This role is crucial in ensuring the successful development and qualification of aviation professionals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct pilot ground and simulator training for clients enrolled in core, specialty, or enrichment courses.
- Develop and meticulously prepare training materials that effectively support training delivery, aligning with client needs and applicable curricula.
- Evaluate and accurately measure trainee progress, providing informed recommendations for qualification or additional necessary training.
- Maintain precise and complete training records for each client, facilitating their achievement of requested objectives.
- Identify potential client training issues proactively and seek appropriate assistance before proceeding with instruction.
- Ensure continuous compliance with all regulatory requirements necessary to maintain valid Instructor qualifications.
Minimum Experience and Qualifications:
- Must be able and willing to participate in FlightSafety’s DOT Drug and Alcohol testing program.
- Holds an unrestricted Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) certificate or an ICAO member state Airline Transport Pilot License.
- If no ATP is held, the candidate must meet the requirements of 14 CFR part 61.153 and 14 CFR part 61.64 without a Supervised Operating Experience (SOE) limitation.
- Possesses a minimum of one unrestricted PIC type rating.
- Preferred: Experience in FAR Part 135, FAR Part 121, or military training environments.
- Preferred: A minimum of 2,500 hours of total flight time.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Comprehensive knowledge of aviation safety standards and established practices.
- Strong understanding of common aviation regulations.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively manage classroom environments and deliver instruction.
- Possesses fundamental facilitation skills.
- Exhibits foundational customer service skills.
- Ability to be receptive to coaching and feedback to support professional development.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
The role involves regular use of hands for manipulating controls and reaching with hands and arms, as well as talking and hearing. Occasional requirements may include standing, walking, sitting, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, tasting, or smelling.
Specific physical motions required include:
- Reaching, exerting pressure, and manipulating rudder controls/anti-torque with both feet.
- Reaching and manipulating numerous simulator controls from the Instructor's chair.
- Entering and exiting the simulator device via the provided ramp.
- Moving between the Instructor station, screen, and podium while instructing in the classroom.
- Exiting from a malfunctioned simulator while the device is in a severely pitched attitude.
Specific vision abilities such as close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus are essential.
The position requires regularly lifting/moving up to 10 pounds and frequently lifting/moving up to 25 pounds.
The work environment frequently involves proximity to moving mechanical parts. Occasional exposure to high, precarious places, outside weather conditions, wet/humid conditions, fumes, airborne particles, toxic/caustic chemicals, extreme temperatures, risk of electrical shock, radiation, and vibration may occur.
