Position Summary
The Flight Instructor is responsible for delivering exceptional ground and simulator flight instruction. This role ensures that all training is conducted in strict adherence to aviation regulations and FlightSafety's established training principles, providing clients with a high-quality, effective learning experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct pilot ground school and simulator training sessions for clients enrolled in core, specialty, and enrichment training courses.
- Develop and prepare necessary training materials to support effective delivery, ensuring alignment with client needs and applicable curriculum standards.
- Evaluate and accurately measure trainee progress throughout the course, providing recommendations for qualification or suggesting areas requiring additional training.
- Maintain precise and detailed training records for each client, facilitating their successful achievement of defined training objectives.
- Proactively identify potential client training challenges and seek appropriate assistance or guidance before delivering instruction.
- Ensure all personal Instructor qualifications remain current and compliant with relevant regulatory requirements.
Minimum Experience and Qualifications
Candidates for this position must meet the following requirements:
- Ability and willingness to participate in FlightSafety’s DOT Drug and Alcohol testing program.
- Possession of an unrestricted Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) certificate, or an equivalent Airline Transport Pilot License issued by an ICAO member state.
- Applicants without an ATP must satisfy the requirements stipulated in 14 CFR part 61.153 and 14 CFR part 61.64 without a Supervised Operating Experience (SOE) limitation.
- A minimum of one unrestricted Pilot in Command (PIC) type rating is required.
- Preferred experience includes training conducted under FAR Part 135, FAR Part 121, or military training environments.
- A total flight time of 2,500 hours is preferred.

Physical Demands and Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the Flight Instructor is regularly required to use hands for controls and manipulation, reach with hands and arms, and communicate verbally. The role may occasionally require standing, walking, sitting, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, tasting, and smelling.
Specific physical requirements include:
- Ability to reach, exert pressure on, and manipulate rudder controls and/or anti-torque devices with both feet.
- Capacity to reach and manipulate numerous controls within the simulator device from the instructor's station.
- Capability to safely enter and exit the simulator device via the provided ramp.
- Physical ability to move between the instructor station, projection screen, and podium while conducting classroom instruction.
- Ability to safely exit a malfunctioned simulator device potentially positioned in a severely pitched attitude.
This role requires specific vision abilities, including close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. The employee will frequently work near moving mechanical parts. The work environment may involve working in high or precarious places and occasionally includes exposure to outside weather conditions, wet and humid conditions, fumes, airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, extreme temperatures, risk of electrical shock, radiation risk, and vibration.
