Position Summary
The Flight Instructor is charged with delivering exceptional, high-quality ground and simulator flight instruction. This professional ensures all training adheres strictly to applicable aviation regulations and the core instructional principles established by FlightSafety International.
Essential Tasks and Responsibilities
The Flight Instructor executes a range of critical duties supporting advanced pilot development, including:
- Conducting rigorous pilot ground and advanced simulator training for clients enrolled in core, specialty, or enrichment curriculum courses.
- Developing, preparing, and refining instructional materials that effectively support training delivery, ensuring alignment with client needs and applicable curriculum standards.
- Objectively evaluating and measuring trainee progress, subsequently providing recommendations for qualification sign-off or necessary supplementary training.
- Maintaining meticulous and accurate training records specific to each client, thereby supporting their successful achievement of required training objectives.
- Proactively identifying potential client training issues and effectively seeking appropriate assistance prior to the execution of training phases.
- Sustaining current Instructor qualifications strictly in accordance with all regulatory requirements.
Minimum Qualifications and Experience
Prospective candidates must meet stringent regulatory and organizational requirements:
- Must be fully able and willing to participate in FlightSafety’s Department of Transportation (DOT) Drug and Alcohol testing program.
- Possession of an unrestricted Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) certificate, or an equivalent Airline Transport Pilot License (ATPL) issued by an ICAO member state.
- If an ATP is not held, the candidate must satisfy the requirements stipulated in 14 CFR part 61.153 and 14 CFR part 61.64, explicitly without a Supervised Operating Experience (SOE) limitation.
- A minimum of one unrestricted Pilot-in-Command (PIC) type rating is mandatory.
Preferred Experience
- Significant operational experience in FAR Part 135, FAR Part 121, or military flight training environments.
- A minimum total flight time of 2,500 hours is highly desirable.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA)

- Comprehensive knowledge of international and national aviation safety standards and established practices.
- In-depth familiarity with common aviation regulations (e.g., FARs).
- Proven ability to manage instructional classes effectively and deliver cohesive teaching.

- A demonstrated ability to be coachable, receptive to feedback, and dedicated to continuous professional development.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
This role involves specific physical demands related to flight instruction and simulator operation.
- The employee must possess the physical range of body motion required to effectively reach, exert pressure, and manipulate rudder and/or anti-torque controls with both feet.
- The ability to reach and manipulate numerous controls within the simulator device from the Instructor’s chair is essential.
- Routinely required to enter and exit the simulator device via the provided ramp and navigate between the instructor station, screen, and podium within the classroom setting.
- Must be capable of safely exiting a malfunctioned simulator device while it is positioned at a severely pitched attitude.
- Specific vision abilities are required, including close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- The position frequently requires lifting and/or moving up to 25 pounds, and regularly requires lifting and/or moving up to 10 pounds.
- The work environment frequently involves working near moving mechanical parts. Occasionally, the employee may be exposed to extremes of cold or heat, risk of electrical shock, or vibration.
