Position Summary
The Flight Instructor plays a pivotal role in delivering exceptional ground and simulator flight instruction. This position ensures all training adheres strictly to aviation regulations and FlightSafety's rigorous training principles, fostering the development of highly proficient aviation professionals.
Key Responsibilities
The Flight Instructor is responsible for:
- Conducting comprehensive pilot ground and simulator training for clients enrolled in core, specialty, or enrichment courses.
- Developing and preparing high-quality training materials that effectively support training delivery and meet specific client needs, in strict accordance with the applicable curriculum.
- Evaluating and meticulously measuring trainee progress, subsequently providing recommendations for qualification or additional training as required.
- Maintaining precise and accurate training records for each client, thereby facilitating their success in achieving their defined objectives.
- Proactively identifying potential client training issues and seeking appropriate assistance or guidance prior to commencing training execution.
- Rigorously maintaining all necessary Instructor qualifications in full compliance with relevant regulatory requirements.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Willingness and ability to participate in FlightSafety’s DOT Drug and Alcohol testing program.
- Possession of an unrestricted Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) certificate, or an equivalent ICAO member state Airline Transport Pilot License.
- For candidates without an ATP, compliance with the requirements of 14 CFR part 61.153 and 14 CFR part 61.64, specifically without a Supervised Operating Experience (SOE) limitation.
- A minimum of one unrestricted Pilot-in-Command (PIC) type rating.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience in FAR Part 135, FAR Part 121, or military aviation training.
- A minimum of 2,500 hours of total flight time.

- Proficient understanding of common aviation regulations.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively manage classroom environments and deliver instruction.
- Strong foundational facilitation skills.

- A high degree of coachability and openness to receiving constructive feedback for continuous professional development.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
The duties of this position necessitate specific physical capabilities. The Flight Instructor is regularly required to use hands for intricate tasks, reach with arms, and engage in verbal communication. The role may involve standing, walking, sitting, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling, as well as sensory perception. Essential physical movements include:
- Reaching, exerting pressure, and manipulating rudder controls or anti-torque pedals with both feet.
- Reaching and manipulating numerous controls within the simulator device from the instructor’s station.
- Entering and exiting the simulator device via the provided ramp.
- Moving between the instructor station, screen, and podium while conducting classroom instruction.
- The ability to exit a malfunctioned simulator, even when the device is in a severely pitched attitude.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- The employee must frequently lift and move objects up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and move up to 25 pounds.
The work environment frequently involves proximity to moving mechanical parts. Occasionally, the employee may be exposed to high or precarious places, outside weather conditions, wet or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, extreme temperatures (cold or heat), risk of electrical shock, radiation, and vibration.
