Position Summary

FlightSafety International is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Flight Instructor to provide exceptional ground and simulator flight instruction. The successful candidate will ensure all training is delivered in strict adherence to aviation regulations and FlightSafety's established training principles, contributing directly to the development of aviation professionals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conducts comprehensive pilot ground and simulator training for clients enrolled in core, specialty, or enrichment courses.
  • Develops and prepares high-quality training materials to support effective training delivery, ensuring alignment with applicable curricula and client needs.
  • Evaluates and accurately measures trainee progress, providing recommendations for qualification or additional instructional support.
  • Maintains precise and thorough training records for each client, facilitating their successful achievement of training objectives.
  • Identifies potential client training issues and proactively seeks assistance to resolve them prior to execution.
  • Ensures continuous maintenance of Instructor qualifications in accordance with all regulatory requirements.

Required Qualifications

Experience and Certifications:

  • Ability and willingness to participate in FlightSafety's DOT Drug and Alcohol testing program.
  • Possession of an unrestricted Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) certificate, or an equivalent ICAO member state Airline Transport Pilot License.
  • If an ATP certificate is not held, candidates must meet the requirements of 14 CFR part 61.153 and 14 CFR part 61.64, without a Supervised Operating Experience (SOE) limitation.
  • A minimum of one unrestricted Pilot-in-Command (PIC) type rating.
  • Preferred: Prior experience in FAR Part 135, FAR Part 121, or military training environments.
  • Preferred: A minimum of 2,500 hours of total flight time.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Comprehensive knowledge of aviation safety standards and practices.
  • Strong understanding of common aviation regulations.
  • Proven ability to manage classrooms effectively and deliver instruction compellingly.
  • Proficiency in first-level facilitation skills.
  • Demonstrated first-level customer service skills.
  • Openness to coaching and receiving constructive feedback to support continuous professional development.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

While performing the duties of this role, the Flight Instructor will regularly be required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and communicate effectively through speech and hearing. The role may also require standing, walking, sitting, climbing or balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and occasional tasting or smelling.

Specific physical capabilities required include:

  • Ability to reach, exert pressure, and manipulate rudder controls and/or anti-torque pedals with both feet.
  • Ability to reach and manipulate numerous controls within the simulator device from the Instructor's chair.
  • Capability to enter and exit the simulator device safely via the provided ramp.
  • Freedom of movement between the Instructor station, screen, and podium while instructing in a classroom setting.
  • Ability to exit a malfunctioned simulator while the device is in a severely pitched attitude.
  • Specific vision abilities required for this role encompass close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, and frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

The work environment frequently involves proximity to moving mechanical parts. The Flight Instructor may occasionally work in high, precarious places and in outside weather conditions, and may be exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, extreme cold, extreme heat, risk of electrical shock, risk of radiation, and vibration.
