Compensation and Benefits

Salary Range

The anticipated salary range for the Rotorcraft Flight Instructor position is $88,500.00 – $150,000.00. Final compensation will be determined based on a variety of factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, educational background, specialized skills, and relevant experience, as well as prevailing market demands. These factors collectively impact the salary or wage offered.

Position Purpose

The Rotorcraft Flight Instructor plays a crucial role in delivering exceptional ground and simulator flight instruction. This position ensures that all training is conducted in strict accordance with both applicable aviation regulations and FlightSafety’s established, industry-leading training principles, fostering the highest standards of pilot competency and safety.

Key Responsibilities

The successful Rotorcraft Flight Instructor will be entrusted with the following core responsibilities:

  • Conducting comprehensive pilot ground and simulator training for clients enrolled in core, specialty, or enrichment courses.
  • Developing and meticulously preparing high-quality training materials to support effective instructional delivery, ensuring alignment with specific client needs and the established curriculum.
  • Evaluating and accurately measuring trainee progress throughout the instruction period, subsequently providing informed recommendations for qualification or suggesting additional, targeted training when necessary.
  • Completing precise and thorough training records for each client, thereby facilitating their successful achievement of all requested objectives.
  • Proactively identifying potential client training issues and seeking appropriate assistance or guidance from leadership prior to the execution of training modules.
  • Maintaining all requisite Instructor qualifications in strict accordance with evolving regulatory requirements and FlightSafety International’s internal standards.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

Candidates for the Rotorcraft Flight Instructor role must fulfill the following essential criteria:

  • Previous rotorcraft experience is required for this position.
  • Ability and willingness to participate in FlightSafety’s DOT Drug and Alcohol testing program.
  • Possession of an ICAO member state Airline Transport Pilot License (ATP).
  • Alternatively, if an ATP is not held: Possession of an FAA Commercial Rotorcraft License with Instrument Rating.

Preferred Qualifications

Highly desirable experience and attributes for this role include:

  • Prior experience in FAR Part 135, FAR Part 121, or military aviation training environments.
  • A minimum of 2,500 hours of total flight time.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

The duties of the Rotorcraft Flight Instructor necessitate specific physical capabilities. The employee is regularly required to use hands for manipulation, reach with arms, and engage in verbal communication. Occasional requirements may include standing, walking, sitting, climbing or balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and sensory perception (taste or smell).

Crucially, the role demands the physical range of body motion to: reach, exert pressure, and manipulate rudder and/or anti-torque controls with both feet; reach and manipulate numerous controls within a simulator from the instructor’s chair; safely enter and exit a simulator device via a provided ramp; move freely between the instructor station, screen, and podium during classroom instruction; and safely exit a malfunctioned simulator even when the device is in a severely pitched attitude. Specific vision abilities required encompass close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

The employee must regularly lift and/or move objects weighing up to 10 pounds and frequently lift and/or move items up to 25 pounds.

The work environment frequently involves proximity to moving mechanical parts. Instructors may occasionally work in high, precarious locations, and in various outside weather conditions. There is occasional exposure to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, extreme cold or heat, the risk of electrical shock, radiation, and vibration.
