Position Overview
The Contract Pilot Instructor plays a critical role in shaping the next generation of aviation professionals. Responsible for delivering high-quality ground and simulator flight instruction, this individual will utilize their extensive aviation expertise and instructional skills to ensure trainees receive comprehensive and engaging training experiences.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver engaging and effective ground and simulator training to clients enrolled in core, specialty, and enrichment training courses.
- Develop and refine training materials to optimize curriculum delivery and meet evolving client needs.
- Evaluate trainee progress, provide constructive feedback, and recommend qualifications or additional training as necessary.
- Maintain meticulous training records for each client, meticulously documenting progress and achievements.
- Proactively identify and address potential client training challenges, seeking guidance and support when necessary.
- Maintain Instructor qualifications in accordance with regulatory requirements, demonstrating a commitment to continuous professional development.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must be eligible and willing to participate in FlightSafety’s DOT Drug & Alcohol testing program.
- Possession of an unrestricted ATP certificate or an ICAO member state Airline Transport Pilot License.
- A minimum of five (5) years of relevant aviation experience.
- For candidates without an ATP certificate, fulfillment of the requirements outlined in 14 CFR part 61.153 and 14 CFR part 61.64, without a Supervised Operating Experience (SOE) limitation, is mandatory.
Preferred Qualifications:
- At least one unrestricted PIC type rating.
- Prior experience in FAR Part 135, FAR Part 121, or military training environments.
- A minimum of 2,500 hours of total flight time.

- Excellent facilitation, interpersonal, and customer service skills.

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and internet-based applications.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
This position requires the physical dexterity to manipulate simulator controls, access the simulator environment, and move comfortably within a classroom setting. The candidate must possess the physical capacity to perform tasks such as reaching, manipulating foot controls, and entering and exiting the simulator, including during simulated emergency scenarios. The role also involves working near moving mechanical parts and potential exposure to moderate noise levels, varying temperatures, and occasional work at heights.
