Key Responsibilities
The First Officer supports the Captain in the safe and efficient conduct of flights, ensuring adherence to all operational procedures and regulations. Key duties include:
- Conducting flights in strict compliance with the current flight plan, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and the Captain's instructions.
- Promptly notifying the Captain of any changes to the flight plan, Air Traffic Control (ATC) clearances, or geographical position when the Captain is not at the controls.
- Providing administrative support to the Captain concerning flight-related duties as requested.
- Ensuring the safe navigation of the aircraft by maintaining a continuous and independent check on the aircraft's geographical position, terrain clearance, and weather conditions.
- Upholding the highest personal standards of discipline, conduct, and appearance as a professional representative of Etihad Airways at all times.
Qualifications & Requirements
Prospective candidates for the First Officer position must satisfy the following minimum criteria:
- A minimum of 2500 hours total flying time.
- A minimum of 1500 hours on multi-crew, glass cockpit aircraft (1) or high-performance military jets.
- At least 500 hours must be accumulated on the A320 Family aircraft type.
- Must have operational experience on any Airbus Fly-by-Wire (FBW) aircraft within the preceding 12 months.
- Possession of a current A320 type rating, which must remain valid for a minimum of 2 months at the time of joining.
- Hold a current and unrestricted ICAO Airline Transport Pilot License (ATPL). A Frozen ATPL is not accepted unless held by a UAE citizen.
- Must be current on the A320 aircraft type.
- Hold an unrestricted, current Class 1 medical certificate.
- Candidates must be a maximum of 50 years of age on the date of joining.
- Demonstrated English Language Fluency (written and verbal) at ICAO Level 4 or higher.
- *Note:* For flight hours accumulated with in-flight relief, 75% of the total hours will be counted towards the required minimums.
*(1) Definition:* Glass Cockpit refers to aircraft equipped with a Flight Management System (FMS) coupled to an Automatic Flight Director System (APFDS).
Compensation & Benefits
Etihad Airways offers a highly competitive annual package for First Officers, comprising basic salary, flying pay, housing allowance, and layover/meal allowances. There is the potential to earn up to 513,732 AED (USD 138,318) tax-free per annum, based on standard flying hours (75 hours per month). Annual salary increments are provided based on performance.
