The Role

As a Captain with Etihad Airways, the individual will hold ultimate authority for the safe, secure, and efficient operation of every flight. Responsibilities include technical command of the aircraft, leadership of the crew, and upholding the highest standards of professionalism. The Captain will ensure the safety of crew, passengers, cargo, and aircraft, exercise full command from taxi-out to engine shutdown, lead flight and cabin crew with strong decision-making and crew resource management, operate with efficiency and environmental responsibility, and deliver consistent On Time Performance.

As a Captain A320 - Instructor, the role involves being a role model responsible for the training and development of pilots' core competencies (Knowledge, Skills, and Attitude) and resilience. The Captain will be authorized to conduct training duties in accordance with GCAA CAR-FCL and CAR-AIR OPS regulations, as well as the Etihad Airways Operations Manual Part A and D. Key instructor duties include displaying instructor competencies, providing high-quality training, serving as a positive role model, offering training system and course feedback, and developing pilot potential and skills.

What You'll Bring

To be considered for the role of Captain A320 - Instructor, candidates must meet the following essential criteria:

  • A minimum of 5500 hours total flying time.
  • A minimum of 2500 Pilot in Command (PIC) hours on multi-crew, glass cockpit aircraft (defined as aircraft with an FMS coupled to APFDS).
  • A minimum of 1500 PIC hours on one of the A320 Family aircraft.
  • Have flown an A320 family aircraft within the last 12 months.
  • A valid A320 type rating for a minimum of 2 months at the time of joining.
  • An unrestricted and current ICAO ATPL.
  • Current on A320.
  • An unrestricted and current Class 1 medical certificate.
  • Not have attained the age of 59 years on the day of joining.
  • English Language Fluency (written and verbal) Level 4 or higher.
  • In cases of hours accumulated on flights with inflight relief, 75% of the total hours will be counted towards the required minimum.

Additionally, candidates are expected to have the following instructor experience:

  • 3 years as an A320 Instructor and/or Examiner (TRI/TRE).
  • 1000 hours of Flight Simulation Training Device (FSTD) training.
  • 1000 hours of Line Flying Under Supervision (LIFUS)/Initial Operating Experience (IOE) experience.
  • Good technical knowledge and expertise.

Previous experience with MPL/Cadet/Ab-initio Training, Evidence-based Training (EBT), and/or Advanced Qualification Programme (AQP)/Airline Transport Pilot Qualification Programme (ATQP) is considered an advantage.
