The Role

The A320 Captain - Instructor holds ultimate authority for the safe, secure, and efficient operation of flights. This position involves technical command of the aircraft, leadership of the crew, and the training and development of pilot core competencies.

  • Ensure the safety and security of crew, passengers, cargo, and aircraft.
  • Exercise full command of the aircraft from taxi-out to final engine shutdown.
  • Lead flight and cabin crew through effective decision-making and crew resource management.
  • Operate in alignment with fuel efficiency and sustainability policies.
  • Maintain consistent on-time performance and guest satisfaction standards.
  • Conduct training duties in accordance with GCAA CAR-FCL/CAR-AIR OPS regulations and company Operations Manuals.
  • Provide high-quality training, course feedback, and professional mentorship to pilots.

Candidate Requirements

To be considered for this position, candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • Minimum of 5,500 hours total flying time.
  • Minimum of 2,500 PIC hours on multi-crew, glass cockpit aircraft (FMS coupled to APFDS).
  • Minimum of 1,500 PIC hours on the A320 family.
  • A320 family flight experience within the last 12 months.
  • Valid A320 type rating (minimum 2 months validity at the time of joining).
  • Unrestricted and current ICAO ATPL and Class 1 medical.
  • Age under 59 years on the day of joining.
  • English language fluency (Level 4 or higher).
  • For flights with in-flight relief, 75% of hours count toward minimums.

Instructor Experience Requirements:

  • 3 years of experience as an A320 Instructor and/or Examiner (TRI/TRE).
  • 1,000 hours of FSTD training.
  • 1,000 hours of LIFUS/IOE experience.
  • Demonstrable technical expertise.
  • Current TRE/TRI status, as well as experience with MPL/Cadet/Ab-initio training or EBT/AQP/ATQP, are considered advantages.

Compensation and Benefits

Etihad offers a competitive, tax-free package, with the potential to earn up to AED 674,029 (USD 181,589) per annum based on 75 flying hours per month. This includes basic salary, flying pay, housing, and allowances.
