Compensation and Benefits

Etihad Airways offers a highly competitive annual remuneration package, comprising a basic salary, flying pay, a housing allowance to facilitate securing a preferred residence, and comprehensive layover and meal allowances. Captains have the potential to earn up to AED 637,304 (approximately USD 171,589) tax-free per annum, based on 75 hours of flying per month. Annual salary increments are performance-based, complemented by a suite of additional benefits designed to support employees and their families:

The Role: Aircraft Captain

The Aircraft Captain assumes primary responsibility for ensuring the utmost safety, security, and operational efficiency of the aircraft, its crew, passengers, and cargo throughout all phases of flight. Key responsibilities include:

  • Ensuring the paramount safety and security of all crew members, passengers, and cargo onboard.
  • Taking full operational and safety command of the aircraft from its initial movement for taxiing prior to take-off until its final resting position and engine shutdown at the completion of the flight.
  • Implementing all reasonable measures to ensure that all individuals carried on the aircraft comply with lawful commands, thereby safeguarding the aircraft, its occupants, and property.
  • Operating the aircraft with optimal efficiency, strictly adhering to the company’s fuel policy.
  • Ensuring exceptional On-Time Performance (OTP).

Candidate Profile and Qualifications

Prospective Aircraft Captains must possess extensive flying experience and meet the following rigorous criteria to be considered for this challenging and rewarding role:

  • A minimum of 5500 hours total flying time.
  • A minimum of 2500 PIC (Pilot in Command) hours on multi-crew, glass cockpit (1) jet aircraft.
  • A minimum of 1500 PIC hours specifically on one of the Airbus A320 Family aircraft.
  • Demonstrated flight experience on any Airbus Fly-By-Wire (FBW) aircraft within the last 12 months.
  • A current A320 Type Rating, valid for a minimum of two months at the anticipated date of joining.
  • Possession of an unrestricted and current ICAO Airline Transport Pilot License (ATPL).
  • Current on the A320 type.
  • Possession of an unrestricted and current Class 1 medical certificate.
  • Maximum age of 59 years on the date of joining.
  • A current TRE/TRI (Type Rating Examiner/Instructor) qualification is considered a significant advantage.
  • English Language Fluency (written and verbal) Level 4 or higher.
  • For hours accumulated on flights with in-flight relief, 75% of the total hours shall be counted towards the required minimums.

(1) Glass Cockpit: Refers to aircraft equipped with a Flight Management System (FMS) coupled to an Autopilot Flight Director System (APFDS).
