Role Summary & Responsibilities
The Flight Instructor, operating within the Flight Department, is responsible for instructing in and operating the Epic E1000—the world's fastest single-engine turboprop. This role demands a commitment to safe aircraft operation, superior pilot instruction, and outstanding customer service for clients and passengers. Initial Epic Factory Training will be provided by the company at no cost.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The Flight Instructor will execute the following core functions:
- Provide standardized Initial and Recurrent ground and flight instruction to E1000 pilots.
- Act as Pilot in Command (PIC) of Epic aircraft while conducting corporate flight missions, including repositioning, ferry flights, internal training, and delivery acceptance flights.
- Maintain clear and professional communication with clients before and after all training events.
- Escalate client and internal issues appropriately to ensure an exceptional customer experience and to promote a collegial workplace environment.
- Facilitate the timely resolution of discrepancies identified on newly delivered and corporate aircraft.
- Operate all Epic aircraft in strict adherence to applicable Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs) and established Epic company policies.
- Perform all required preflight preparation, including comprehensive weather assessments.
- Make and communicate accurate, timely decisions concerning the safety of flight.
- Complete all necessary flight documentation, paperwork, and travel expense reports.
- Maintain a deep and current level of aircraft systems knowledge and serve as a model aviator, flight instructor, and official representative of Epic Aircraft.
Additional Functions
The role may also include supplementary duties such as:
- Providing sales support during airshow events.
- Executing Delivery Acceptance flights.
- Conducting presentations for both internal and external customers.
- Managing special projects and assignments as requested.
Required Qualifications and Credentials
Successful candidates must possess the following minimum qualifications:
- A Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education and professional work experience.
- Current and active FAA Certificated Flight Instructor (CFI and CFII) certificate.
- Current FAA Commercial Pilot certificate with Airplane Single-Engine Land (ASEL) and Instrument Airplane ratings.
- Current FAA Flight Instructor certificate with Airplane Single Engine (ASE) and Instrument Airplane ratings.
- Current 1st or 2nd Class FAA Medical Certificate.
- A minimum of 1500 hours Total Flight Time.
- A minimum of 750 hours as an Authorized Instructor.
- Current IFR proficiency.
- A clean record with no history of FAA violations.
- Detailed knowledge of Federal Aviation Regulations, air traffic control procedures, and complex aircraft systems.
- Demonstrated capability for maintaining strict confidentiality and discretion.
- A current, valid U.S. Passport is required.
- Authorization to work in the U.S. for any employer without sponsorship now or in the future is mandatory.
Desirable Attributes and Experience
Candidates possessing the following experience are highly encouraged to apply:
- Experience operating turbine aircraft in demanding environments, including IFR conditions, congested airspace, mountain flying, extensive Instrument Meteorological Conditions (IMC), and night operations.
- Recent instructing experience gained in military, Part 142, Part 141, or General Aviation environments.
- Recent experience instructing in turboprop or turbofan aircraft.
- Recent experience instructing in advanced avionics systems (e.g., Garmin G1000 NXi).
- Experience providing instruction in flight simulators or training devices.
- Previous corporate flight experience.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and Google Workspace applications.
- Previous experience in training course development.
