The Flight Training Procedures Instructor plays a vital role within Flight Operations, contributing to the training and development of pilots and instructional staff. This position is responsible for conducting essential training modules and ensuring adherence to company policy and Federal Aviation Regulations. The instructor facilitates classroom learning, delivers technical training, administers knowledge testing, and leads hands-on drills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct training modules for New Hire Pilot Indoctrination, Return to Work Pilot Reorientation, and Instructor/Evaluator Principles of Instruction courses.
  • Deliver instruction on subjects including Security, Operations Specifications, Aircraft Operating Manuals, Crew Member Duties & Responsibilities, Aircraft Performance, Weight & Balance, Electronic Flight Bag (EFB) Usage, Flight Planning & Dispatch Procedures.
  • Provide instruction on Principles of Instruction, covering Fundamental Principles of the Teaching-Learning Process; Instructional Methods, Procedures and Techniques; Evaluating Student Performance; and communication skills.
  • Assess student progress and support preparation for end-of-course examinations.
  • Assist with class scheduling, logistics, and communication for training programs.
  • Serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for the development of e-learning and instructor-led training (ILT) programs.
  • Consistently practice safety conscious behaviors across all operational processes and procedures.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A consistent commitment to prioritizing safety and security for oneself, others, and personal data.
  • An ability to embrace a diverse range of people, perspectives, and work styles.
  • Possession of a high school diploma, GED, or high school equivalency.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age and legally authorized to work in the United States.
  • A minimum of a two-year college degree or equivalent work experience serving as an instructor or facilitator is required.
  • Demonstrated excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Possession of excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Must be capable of working effectively with minimal supervision in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Holds a Private Pilot License with instrument ratings.
  • Candidates who do not possess an FAA Ground Instructor certificate must be eligible to obtain an FAA Advanced Ground Instructor Certificate and are expected to secure this certification within twelve months of hire.
  • Must have successfully completed, or be able to successfully complete, the Delta Instructor/Evaluator Indoctrination curriculum and Academic Instructor Qualification curriculum.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience teaching technical, non-technical, and compliance training programs is preferred.
  • Experience specifically with air carrier training programs is strongly preferred.
  • Holding an FAA Ground Instructor Certificate with Advanced and/or Instrument Rating (AGI or IGI) is advantageous.
  • Possession of an Airline Transport Pilot certificate or Commercial Pilot certificate with Instrument Rating, or a military equivalent, is preferred.
  • Holding an FAA Certified Flight Instructor certificate or military equivalent is preferred.
