Position Overview

The Flight Attendant plays a critical role in ensuring the safety, comfort, and exceptional service of all passengers onboard Contour Airlines aircraft. This position requires a commitment to upholding the highest standards of Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations, company policies, and customer satisfaction, contributing significantly to the overall passenger experience and the airline's reputation.

Key Responsibilities

The primary duties of a Flight Attendant include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Performing all required work activities within the aircraft environment in strict accordance with established standards, policies, laws, and FAA regulations.
  • Actively working to ensure the safety and comfort of all customers.
  • Providing exemplary customer service to satisfy and exceed passenger expectations throughout the flight.
  • Assisting passengers with lifting and stowing luggage, garments, and other items into overhead bins or designated storage areas, and soliciting assistance when necessary.
  • Attending to individuals needing assistance, such as unaccompanied minors, passengers with disabilities, and elderly travelers, during all phases of aircraft operations.
  • Preparing and serving a selection of meals, snacks, and alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages.
  • Maintaining a professional appearance and demeanor at all times.
  • Responding effectively during emergency situations by implementing instructions from the flight deck and rigorously following all required safety and emergency procedures.
  • Guiding or directing passengers, both verbally and non-verbally, during emergency situations (e.g., evacuations) to minimize impact and protect passengers and crew members.
  • Providing emergency medical assistance, including performing CPR and basic first aid, to assist individuals in distress.
  • Ensuring the aircraft and passengers are in full compliance with all company policies, procedures, regulations, and safety measures.
  • Communicating effectively through onboard public address announcements, completing safety demonstrations, and providing clear instructions to passengers.
  • Communicating in writing to complete necessary paperwork and detailed reports regarding incidents and/or discrepancies.
  • Retrieving and storing items in overhead bins, which may be as high as 67 inches from the floor.
  • Operating all galley/cabin service equipment and in-flight entertainment systems unsupervised.
  • Maintaining the cleanliness and appearance of the aircraft's cabin, galley, and lavatories.
  • Practicing safety-conscious behaviors in all operational processes and procedures.
  • Complying with other tasks as assigned by management or the Pilot-in-Command.

Qualifications and Requirements

Candidates must meet the following qualifications:

  • Must be 23 years of age or older.
  • Possess a high school diploma or GED certificate.
  • Authorized by law to work in the United States and able to travel in and out of the United States.
  • Hold a valid driver's license with a good driving record.
  • Possess a valid passport.
  • Must understand, read, and write English fluently; bilingual proficiency is preferred but not required.
  • Ability to pass a DOT-required pre-employment drug screen and thereafter submit to DOT-mandated random drug and alcohol testing.
  • Able to pass a required 10-year work history review and submit to criminal background and fingerprint checks.
  • Must successfully complete Contour Airlines' comprehensive four-week Flight Attendant Initial Training Program.
  • Ability to adjust to a rotating schedule with variable hours, which could include duty days up to 16 hours, ranging from two (2) to 14 hours.
  • Willingness to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Possess polished and professional interpersonal skills, maintaining a positive attitude and a customer-oriented mindset.
  • Demonstrate strong leadership, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Possess well-developed people skills and the ability to work effectively with a variety of personalities.
  • Capable of coordinating multiple priorities and meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions.
  • Maintain strong attention to detail, be self-motivated, and able to motivate others.
  • Exhibit excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, delivered with tact and professionalism.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Commitment to working in a safe and professional manner, adhering to all regulatory requirements, including OSHA, EPA, state, and federal regulations.
  • Must reside within one (1) hour of the Phoenix (PHX) domicile.

Physical Requirements and Environmental Factors

Candidates for this position should be prepared for:

  • Exposure to peanuts, pets, and other potential allergens.
  • Ability to open emergency exits and close aircraft doors weighing up to 60 pounds.
  • Capability to push and pull heavy beverage/food carts requiring 32 pounds of force.
  • Performing tasks that require frequent walking, bending to ankle level, reaching above shoulder level, and reaching inside overhead bins to retrieve or store items.

Compensation and Benefits

Contour Airlines offers a competitive compensation and benefits package for its full-time employees:

  • Starting Annual Salary: $34,000.00, with eligibility for yearly increases based on performance and pay anniversary, until the salary reaches up to $42,564.91.
  • Pay Incentives: Eligibility for additional pay incentives for extra trips worked or assigned, based on schedule and achievement of certain thresholds, paid in addition to the monthly salary.
  • Comprehensive Health Coverage: Eligibility for health, vision, and dental coverage, effective on the first day of the month following the hire date.
  • Disability & Life Insurance: Short-term/long-term disability and voluntary life insurance policies.
  • 401(k) Savings Plan: Participation eligible on the first day of the month following the hire date, with a Company match of up to 6%.
  • Paid Sick Leave: Employees can accrue up to 56 hours per year, which will roll over annually until a sick bank reaches 480 hours.
  • Vested Vacation Hours: Available on January 1st following the date of hire.
  • Travel Privileges: Non-revenue/space available (NRSA) travel privileges become effective after six active months of service.
  • Leaves of Absence: Eligibility for a variety of leaves, including medical leave, non-medical leave for the care of a family member, maternity leave, paternity leave, and personal leave.
