Position Summary

The Flight Attendant is responsible for ensuring the safety, comfort, and satisfaction of passengers during flight operations. This role requires a high level of professionalism, adherence to strict safety protocols, and exceptional customer service skills. The Flight Attendant will perform essential duties within the aircraft environment, including emergency response, passenger assistance, and in-flight service.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

General Duties:

  • Perform all work duties in compliance with established standards, policies, laws, and Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations.
  • Operate galley and cabin service equipment, as well as the in-flight entertainment system.
  • Work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Proactively ensure the safety and comfort of all customers.
  • Provide exemplary customer service to meet and exceed expectations.
  • Assist with lifting and stowing luggage in overhead bins and other storage areas, soliciting assistance when necessary.
  • Attend to passengers requiring special assistance, including unaccompanied minors, individuals with disabilities, and the elderly.
  • Prepare and serve meals, snacks, and beverages.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor, projecting a positive attitude at all times.
  • Demonstrate dependability and commitment to completing all work assignments punctually.
  • Effectively perceive, understand, and respond to written and oral communications, including warnings.
  • Complete required paperwork and detailed reports regarding incidents and discrepancies.
  • Adapt to a rotating schedule with variable days off and hours, potentially including duty days up to 16 hours.
  • Be available to work nights, weekends, holidays, and periods away from home.
  • Sit in an assigned jump seat with seatbelt and shoulder harness fastened.
  • Retrieve and store items in overhead bins, which may be up to 67 inches from the floor.
  • Perform tasks involving frequent walking, bending to ankle level, reaching above shoulder level, and reaching inside overhead bins.
  • Maintain the cleanliness and appearance of the aircraft cabin, galley, and lavatory.
  • Restock the galley as required.
  • Practice safety-conscious behaviors in all operational processes and procedures.
  • Comply with all other tasks assigned by management or the Pilot-in-Command.

Flight Attendant Specific Duties:

  • Respond effectively during emergency situations by implementing instructions from the flight deck and adhering to safety and emergency procedures.
  • Guide and direct passengers during emergencies, such as evacuations, to minimize impact and protect all individuals.
  • Provide emergency medical assistance, including CPR and basic first aid, to individuals in distress.
  • Ensure aircraft and passenger compliance with all policies, procedures, regulations, and safety measures.
  • Make onboard public address announcements, conduct safety demonstrations, and provide instructions.
  • Operate emergency exits and close aircraft doors, which may weigh up to 60 pounds.
  • Push and pull heavy beverage and food carts requiring up to 32 pounds of force.

Cabin Attendant Specific Duties:

  • Restock the galley following established procedures.
  • Order and retrieve requested catering items for passengers.
  • Verify expiration dates on all food and drink items.
  • Ensure no food items are left on the aircraft after passengers have deplaned.
  • Notify Inflight Services Leadership of low inventory stock levels.

Qualifications

  • Must be at least 23 years of age.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States and travel to and from the United States.
  • Requires a minimum of three (3) years of corporate Cabin Attendant experience OR prior experience as a Flight Attendant.
  • Must possess a valid passport.
  • Must pass a DOT-required pre-employment drug screen and be subject to DOT-mandated random drug and/or alcohol testing.
  • Must successfully pass a required 10-year work history review, criminal history record check, and fingerprint checks.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and maintain a good driving record.
  • Must successfully complete Contour's four (4) week Flight Attendant Initial Training Program and Initial Operating Experience.
  • Must be proficient in reading, writing, speaking, and understanding English. Bilingual proficiency is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Must reside within a one (1) hour commute of the assigned base.
  • Must be able to work nights, weekends, holidays, and varying schedules.
  • Ability to work unsupervised is essential.
  • Possess polished and professional interpersonal skills with a positive, customer-oriented mindset.
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills are required.
  • Excellent people skills and the ability to collaborate with diverse personalities.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Maintain a high level of attention to detail.
  • Must be self-motivated and capable of motivating others.
  • Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills, delivered with tact and professionalism.
  • Ability to work safely and professionally, adhering to all regulatory requirements (OSHA, EPA, state, and federal).
