Position Overview

A Flight Attendant at Contour Airlines is a vital member of the cabin crew responsible for ensuring the safety, security, and comfort of passengers during flight. The role requires a professional demeanor, excellent interpersonal skills, and the ability to respond effectively in routine and emergency situations. This position operates on a rotating schedule which may include variable hours, nights, weekends, and holidays.

Key Responsibilities

The Flight Attendant performs required duties within the aircraft environment in accordance with established standards, policies, laws, and regulations, including Federal Aviation Administration guidelines. Primary duties include actively seeking to ensure passenger safety and comfort, providing exemplary customer service, and assisting passengers with various needs, such as lifting and stowing luggage in overhead bins. The role involves attending to individuals requiring special assistance, preparing and serving meals and beverages, and maintaining a professional appearance.

In emergency situations, the Flight Attendant is expected to respond effectively, implement instructions from the flight deck, follow required safety and emergency procedures, and guide or direct passengers during events like evacuations. Providing basic emergency medical assistance, such as CPR and first aid, is also a responsibility.

Maintaining cabin compliance with policies, procedures, regulations, and safety measures is essential. The role requires effective verbal communication for public address announcements, safety demonstrations, and providing instructions, as well as written communication for completing reports regarding incidents or discrepancies. Physical tasks include retrieving and storing items in overhead bins up to 67" high, opening emergency exits and closing aircraft doors weighing up to 60 pounds, pushing and pulling beverage/food carts requiring 32 lbs of force, and performing tasks requiring frequent walking, bending, and reaching. The Flight Attendant must be proficient in using galley/cabin service equipment and the in-flight entertainment system unsupervised. Maintaining the cleanliness and appearance of the aircraft's cabin, galley, and lavatory is also required. The position necessitates practicing safety-conscious behaviors in all operational processes and complying with tasks assigned by management or the Pilot-in-Command.

Qualifications

  • Must be 23 years of age or older.
  • High school diploma or GED certificate is required.
  • Authorized by law to work in the United States and able to travel in and out of the United States.
  • Must have a valid driver license and good driving record.
  • Must have valid passport.
  • Must understand, read, and write English. Bilingual is preferred but not required.
  • Must pass a DOT required pre-employment drug screen and thereafter submit to DOT mandated random drug and alcohol testing.
  • Able to pass a required 10-year work history review and submit to criminal background and fingerprint checks.
  • Must be able to successfully complete Contour's four (4) week Flight Attendant Initial Training Program.
  • Ability to adjust to a rotating schedule with variable hours that could include up to a 16-hour duty day. A duty day could range from two (2) to 14 hours.
  • Must be willing to work nights, weekends, and holidays.

  • Must live within one (1) hour of assigned domicile.

Compensation and Benefits

The starting annual salary for this position is $34,000.00. Based on performance and pay anniversary date, employees are eligible for yearly increases until the salary reaches $42,564.91. Upon reaching the maximum annual salary, eligibility for a retention bonus of up to $2,000.00 each year is provided. Depending on the schedule and specific thresholds, employees may also be eligible for pay incentives for additional trips worked or assigned, paid in addition to the monthly salary.

Full-time employees are eligible for health, vision, and dental coverage, as well as short-term/long-term disability and voluntary life insurance policies, effective on the first day of the month following the date of hire. Eligibility to participate in the 401(k) savings plan is effective the first day of the month following the date of hire, with a company match up to 6%, in accordance with normal practices. Paid sick leave accrues up to 56 hours per year, rolling over annually up to 480 hours. Vested vacation hours are available on January 1st following the date of hire. Non-revenue/space available (NRSA) travel privileges are available after completing six active months of service. A variety of leaves of absence, including medical, family care, maternity, paternity, and personal leave, are available.
