Role Summary

A Flight Attendant is responsible for ensuring the safety and comfort of passengers while providing exceptional customer service throughout all phases of flight. This role requires strict adherence to established standards, policies, and regulations, including those set forth by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). Flight Attendants play a critical role in maintaining cabin appearance and responding effectively during emergency situations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prioritizes and actively ensures the safety and comfort of all customers.
  • Performs all work activities in strict accordance with established standards, policies, laws, and regulations.
  • Provides exemplary customer service to satisfy and exceed customer expectations.
  • Assists passengers with lifting and stowing luggage into overhead bins or other storage areas, soliciting assistance when needed.
  • Attends to individuals needing assistance, such as unaccompanied minors, passengers with disabilities, and the elderly.
  • Prepares and serves meals, snacks, and beverages (alcoholic and non-alcoholic).
  • Responds effectively during emergency situations, implementing instructions from the flight deck and following required safety and emergency procedures.
  • Guides and directs passengers during emergency situations, such as evacuations, to minimize impact and protect passengers and crew.
  • Provides emergency medical assistance, including performing CPR and basic first aid, to individuals in distress.
  • Ensures the aircraft and passengers are in full compliance with all policies, procedures, regulations, and safety measures.
  • Communicates effectively verbally, making public address announcements, conducting safety demonstrations, and providing instructions.
  • Communicates effectively in writing, completing necessary paperwork and detailed reports regarding incidents or discrepancies.
  • Retrieves and stores items in overhead bins, which may be as high as 67 inches from the floor.
  • Opens emergency exits and closes aircraft doors weighing up to 60 pounds.
  • Pushes and pulls heavy beverage and food carts requiring up to 32 lbs of force.
  • Performs tasks requiring frequent walking, bending to ankle level, reaching above shoulder level, and reaching inside overhead bins.
  • Operates all galley/cabin service equipment and in-flight entertainment systems unsupervised.
  • Maintains the appearance of the aircraft's cabin, galley, and lavatory.
  • Practices safety-conscious behaviors in all operational processes and procedures.
  • Complies with other duties as assigned by management or the Pilot-in-Command.

Qualifications

  • Must be at least 23 years of age.
  • Possession of a high school diploma or GED certificate is required.
  • Must be authorized by law to work and travel in and out of the United States.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and maintain a good driving record.
  • Possession of a valid passport is required.
  • Must be able to understand, read, and write English. Bilingual proficiency is preferred but not required.
  • Ability to pass a DOT-required pre-employment drug screen and submit to DOT-mandated random drug and alcohol testing.
  • Ability to pass a required 10-year work history review and submit to criminal background and fingerprint checks.
  • Must successfully complete Contour's four (4) week Flight Attendant Initial Training Program.
  • Ability to adjust to a rotating schedule with variable hours, including potential duty days ranging from two (2) to 16 hours.
  • Willingness to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Possess polished and professional interpersonal skills with a positive attitude and a customer-oriented mindset.
  • Demonstrate strong leadership, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Possess well-developed people skills and the ability to work effectively with a variety of personalities.
  • Ability to coordinate multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment, handling interruptions effectively.
  • Maintain a strong attention to detail.
  • Must be self-motivated and able to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills, delivered with tact and professionalism.
  • Ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to work in a safe, professional manner, adhering to all regulatory requirements including OSHA, EPA, state, and federal regulations.
  • Must reside within one (1) hour of the assigned domicile (IAD).
  • Ability to work in an environment with potential exposure to allergens, including peanuts and pets.

Compensation & Benefits

Contour Airlines offers a competitive compensation and benefits package for full-time employees:

  • **Starting Salary:** $34,000.00 annually.
  • **Salary Progression:** Eligible for yearly increases based on performance and pay anniversary date, up to a maximum annual salary of $42,564.91.
  • **Retention Bonus:** Eligible to receive a retention bonus of up to $2,000.00 each year upon reaching the maximum annual salary.
  • **Pay Incentives:** Eligible for pay incentives for additional trips worked or assigned, based on schedule and thresholds, paid in addition to the monthly salary.
  • **Health & Wellness:** Eligible for health, vision, and dental coverage, as well as short-term/long-term disability and voluntary life insurance policies, effective the first day of the month following the hire date.
  • **Retirement:** Eligible to participate in a 401(k) savings plan, effective the first day of the month following the hire date, with a company match up to 6%.
  • **Paid Leave:** Accrue up to 56 hours of paid sick leave per year (rolls over up to 480 hours). Eligible for vested vacation hours available January 1st following the hire date. Eligible for various leaves of absence (medical, family care, maternity, paternity, personal, etc.).
  • **Travel Privileges:** Eligible for non-revenue/space available (NRSA) travel privileges after completing six active months of service.
