CommuteAir is seeking a dedicated Flight Attendant to join our team in Houston, Texas. As a Flight Attendant, you will be responsible for ensuring inflight safety, providing exceptional customer service, and maintaining cabin readiness.

Position Overview

The Flight Attendant performs or assists in the performance of all inflight safety, customer service, and cabin preparation duties. This role involves communicating and cooperating with flight and ground crews as an integral member of the team. CommuteAir operates as a United Airlines partner, connecting communities globally via the United Global Network.

Essential Functions

  • Ensure onboard safety standards are met and passengers comply with FAA and company regulations and policies.
  • Provide outstanding customer service and assist passengers while on board, representing both CommuteAir and United Airlines.
  • Complete necessary checklists, paperwork, and reports as outlined in the Flight Attendant Manual.
  • Communicate effectively with pilots and ground crew to ensure efficient and safe flight operations.
  • Be prepared to handle emergencies at any time during a flight.
  • Comply with company policies as outlined in the Flight Attendant Manual and Employee Handbook.
  • Perform other duties as assigned and agreed upon in the applicable Collective Bargaining Agreement.

General Requirements & Qualifications

  • Minimum age of 21 years.
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States (U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, or alien authorized to work).
  • Possession of a valid U.S. or foreign passport with applicable VISAs.
  • Right to travel freely in and out of the United States to all cities served by CommuteAir without restriction.
  • Fluent in the English language, both written and spoken.
  • Satisfactory 10-year background history, including criminal background.
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Minimum of 2 years of customer service experience.
  • Ability to comply with company uniform and grooming standards, which prohibit visible tattoos or piercings other than in the ears.
  • Professionalism: Maintain composure and professional appearance at all times.
  • Mathematics: Ability to solve problems and complete paperwork using mathematical principles.
  • Reading Comprehension: Ability to understand text in work-related documents.
  • Listening: Ability to give full attention to others, ask clarifying questions.
  • Evaluation: Ability to evaluate new information for problem-solving and decision-making.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written interaction skills with passengers, coworkers, and vendor/contractor representatives.

Physical Requirements

  • Medium Work: Exerting up to 50 lbs. of force occasionally, up to 20 lbs. of force frequently, and up to 10 lbs. of force consistently to move objects.
  • Height requirement between 4'11" and 5'11" without shoes, due to cabin height limits.
  • Ability to push and control a beverage cart weighing up to 250 lbs.
  • Ability to reach, crouch, kneel, bend, twist, and move in confined spaces.
  • Ability to reach and operate emergency equipment and exits.
  • Ability to hear clearly in a loud environment.
  • All physical requirements should be achievable with or without reasonable accommodation.

Visual Acuity

Includes inspection, close assembly, and clerical/administrative tasks. This standard applies to work involving preparing and analyzing data, accounting, computer use, extensive reading, and visual inspection of small defects, parts, or operation of machines using measuring devices.

Environmental Conditions

  • Exposure to varied weather conditions, including temperatures from over 90 degrees to under 32 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Exposure to noise levels that may require shouting to be heard above ambient noise.
  • Potential for atmospheric conditions causing heightened movement and cabin discomfort.
