Role Summary

CAE is seeking dedicated Instructor Pilots to join its elite team. The Instructor Pilot is responsible for delivering high-quality flight training in flight simulators and ground school environments. This instruction is conducted strictly in accordance with applicable regulatory agencies, CAE-approved curricula, and specific customer requirements. The Instructor Pilot acts as a subject matter expert (SME), guiding clients effectively through their training programs. With a passion for aviation and sharing knowledge, this role is ideal for pilots seeking a rewarding career transition. After approximately 1.5 years in the role, and based on business needs, designated Instructors are expected to qualify as a Training Center Evaluator (TCE) and customer contract check airman.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provides simulator/flight or classroom instruction on one or more assigned aircraft types for the issuance of licenses, type ratings, internal training, certificates, and pilot qualifications.
  • Conducts comprehensive and professional pre and post flight simulator briefings following CAE standards.
  • Manages required administrative duties, including completing training records, recommending remedial training when necessary, and tracking personal instructional qualifications and activity.
  • Serves as a subject matter expert (SME) for the creation of new curricula and courseware as required.

Requirements

  • Education: A High School diploma or state-issued equivalent is required; an Associate or college degree is preferred.
  • Experience: Possesses 2-5 years of relevant job experience. Previous experience teaching or training others is preferred. Demonstrates proven experience in work assignments requiring a customer service orientation. Experience under FAR Part 135 operations is preferred.
  • Authorization: Must be authorized to live and work in the United States.
  • Skills: Exhibits basic computer proficiency, including experience with Microsoft Office and internet-based programs.
  • Licenses & Ratings: Holds or has held a professional pilot’s license. An existing instructor qualification or type rating is preferred. Possesses an unrestricted Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) certificate and a minimum of one unrestricted PIC type rating is preferred.
  • Flight Time: A minimum of 3,000 hours of total flight time is preferred.
  • Other: Must be able to participate in CAE’s DOT Anti-Drug & Alcohol testing program.

Physical Requirements

The role requires physical dexterity for tasks involving hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills. Ability to sit in a confined space for 4-6 hours with limited breaks, stand for extended periods (up to 10 hours) with limited breaks, sit, stoop, climb, and twist and turn is necessary.
