Aviation Instructor
An Aviation Instructor is needed to provide T-44A/C aircraft systems and operational procedures instruction. This includes delivering classroom, simulator, and practical environment training. The instructor will also serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) as required. Additional responsibilities may include courseware review and administrative or collateral duties such as publications, safety, quality audits, FCIF, and scheduling, as assigned by the Program or Site Manager.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provides pilot procedures instruction in classroom and simulator environments.
- Assists with the development and updates of training devices.
- Serves as a Subject Matter Expert in the development of curriculum for new type courses and the review of existing lessons or changes to existing lessons.
- Provides suggestions to improve and update training policies and procedures.
- Promotes a positive attitude toward learning and embracing new technologies and tasks.
- Performs diagnosis and remediation of student performance issues.
- Assists in project and development work as assigned.
- Performs administrative duties such as student record keeping, monitoring student progress, counseling, quality assurance, safety, and security.
- Maintains proficiency in the operation of Aircrew Training Devices.
- Maintains proficiency in all areas of instruction to pass standardization checks and classroom evaluations.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Able to enter simulator, and take cognizance of student’s safety when on board the simulator.
Qualifications and Education Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution of higher learning is required.
- Must be a prior military pilot or possess an FAA flight instructor certificate with Airplane Multi-Engine and Instrument-Airplane ratings.
- A minimum of 1,000 hours of flight time is required.
- Must possess knowledge of DoD rules and regulations governing aircraft operations and the use of DoD forms and documents for aircraft instrument flight operations.
- Must be a graduate of a military instruction course or equivalent, meeting the Navy’s Instructor Training Course, A-012-0077 standard, as approved by the Government.
- Must possess a working knowledge of each phase of NATRACOM flight training and courseware curricula utilized in the ICW classroom.
- Must have a working knowledge of the administrator functions associated with the courseware presentation programs outlined in the ICW/EC Training System Utilization Handbook.
- Must be capable of inducting new students into the system, purging old students, generating performance reports, and fielding random queries regarding student’s progress and performance.
- Strong facilitation and data analysis skills are required.
- Ability to participate in periodic aircraft familiarization flights.
- Must acquire and maintain proficiency in emergency procedures.
- Must have the ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex documents.
- Must be able to respond effectively to sensitive inquiries and complaints.
- Must be able to generate effective oral and written presentations and proposals on complex subjects.
- Must be able to calculate figures and amounts, prices, commissions, and percentages, and to draw and interpret graphs.
- Must be able to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Must be able to work overtime as required.
- Domestic and international travel may be required.
- Must be willing to work any shift or day of the week as required.
- Applicant will be subject to a US Government investigation and must meet the eligibility requirements to obtain/maintain the required level of security clearance.
Preferred Skills:
- An ability to interpret complex customer requirements and attitudes from verbal, non-verbal, and written communication is desirable.
Work Environment and Physical Demands:
This job operates in office, classroom, and simulator environments. The role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines. The employee may be exposed to electrical shock, moving mechanical parts driven by hydraulics under high pressure, extreme heat, airborne particles, and loud noises. The employee must be able to stand up and conduct academic instruction, walk or climb stairs and ladders, stoop, bend, and crawl. Must be able to detect odors or hear noises to detect problems or flaws in the functioning of simulators and its surrounding environment.
