MH-60R Sensor Systems Instructor
Overview
This role involves providing comprehensive instruction on MH-60R Sensor Systems and operational procedures within classroom, aircraft, and simulator environments. The instructor will serve as a Subject Matter Expert, contributing to the development of curriculum for relevant training courses.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Conduct scheduled training for Training Device and Systems Training, utilizing both traditional and modern methods like interactive whiteboards, computers, and video projectors. Deliver briefs and debriefs during these sessions.
- Assess and document trainee performance during training and mission simulations.
- Evaluate and record trainer performance according to established Commonwealth criteria.
- Maintain, assess, and recommend improvements to mission scenarios, ensuring effectiveness and currency.
- Review existing curriculum and propose enhancements to the training program, collaborating with relevant training management officials.
- Deliver classroom instruction and provide feedback, including test and test material development, lesson plans, and trainee guides, adhering to current directives.
- Provide comprehensive training on training device operation, encompassing briefing, debriefing, and grading/assessment.
- Participate in training device testing/evaluation during periodic qualification or introduction of new or modified systems or Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs).
- Deliver academic instruction in Crew Resource Management (CRM), Instrument Ground School (IGS), and facilitate self-paced Computer Aided Instruction (CAI) and Computer Based Training (CBT) for courses related to the RAN MH-60R.
- Assist with training device inspections and qualification programs, as well as special projects such as mishap re-creation and testing.
- Continuously maintain and enhance specific training programs. Conduct thorough assessments of training effectiveness, syllabus, and mission scenarios. Update, modify, and maintain currency of mission scenarios, recommending improvements to the training program to the Government.
- Contribute to the development and refinement of feedback methodologies for trainees.
- Recommend new testing instruments to accurately identify training baseline and measure proficiency of training objectives, in consultation with the Commonwealth and the COR.
- Propose updates and maintain interim changes to curriculum materials, including tests and test materials, lesson plans, and trainee guides, in accordance with current Commonwealth directives.
- Review syllabi and suggest necessary changes to lessons based on NATOPS modifications, engineering changes, and evolving mission area developments.
- Provide assistance in the validation of training device discrepancies and corrective actions.
- Actively participate in airworthiness boards as requested by the Commonwealth.
- Contribute to the resolution of airworthiness corrective action requests in accordance with AAP 7001.048.
- Introduce and explain the operation, capabilities, and limitations of respective training devices/equipment and the simulated aircraft to various tour groups and individuals, as required by the Government and the Commonwealth.
- Assist in maintaining the Tactical/Technical Publications Library.
- Attend mandatory scheduled meetings, such as Scheduling, Standardization, Commonwealth Instructor Pilot/Aircrew, and Intelligence Updates.
- Perform administrative duties including scheduling, record keeping, monitoring student progress, counseling, quality assurance, safety, security, and maintenance of training programs and equipment.
- Maintain proficiency in operating essential MH-60R Aircrew Training Devices.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Education Requirements:
- Minimum of 500 hours of military flying experience. Recent experience as an MH-60R SENSO Instructor or Evaluator is highly desired.
- Minimum of two (2) years of instructional experience in an aircrew training environment on military rotary wing platforms.
- Completion of at least one sea-going tour.
- Must possess the qualifications and experience to be authorized by the HQ-FAA Chief Aircrew examiner or delegate as a competent simulator instructor in all MH-60R curriculum sequences in the TOFT & WTT.
- Previous anti-submarine and surface warfare experience is required.
- Ability to work overtime as needed.
- Willingness to work any shift or day of the week as required.
- Eligibility for DoD Personal Security Clearance.
- SENSO instructors must be assessed as competent to instruct by CO 725 SQN, or delegate, to train MH-60R SENSOs in Synthetic Training Devices.
- SENSO instructors will undergo and be required to pass a periodic instructor assessment, in accordance with ABR 5150, by a relevant HQ-FAA Chief Aircrew examiner or delegate.
- SENSO instructors will undergo and pass a periodic MH-60R simulator check flight, in accordance with ABR 5150, by CO 725 SQN or delegate.

- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex documents.

Mathematical Skills:
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts, prices, commissions, and percentages, and to draw and interpret graphs.
Reasoning Ability:
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Ability to interpret complex customer requirements and attitudes from verbal, non-verbal, and written communication is desirable.
Security Responsibilities:
- Compliance with all company security and data protection/usage policies and procedures.
- Personal responsibility for proper marking and handling of all information and materials in any form.
- No disclosure of information or access to other employees without a need-to-know.
- No disclosure of information outside the company without management approval.
- Access and storage of all government and proprietary information electronically on company-provided resources.
- Eligibility for DoD Personal Security Clearance.
Work Environment:
- Work in a regular office environment, communicating via personal computer, telephone, and fax.
- Exposure to areas with risk of electrical shock and from moving mechanical parts driven by high power server mechanisms.
- Potential exposure to extreme heat, airborne particles, and loud noises.
- Ability to enter simulator and take cognizance of attendees’ safety when on board the simulator.
- Ability to stand up and conduct academic instruction in simulator and classrooms for up to six hours each day.
Physical Demands:
- Domestic and international travel as required.
- Ability to walk and/or climb stairs and ladders into a simulator or airplane cockpit.
- Ability to stoop, bend, and crawl on top of or under machinery.
- Ability to detect odors or hear noises, bangs, etc., or other sounds to detect problems or flaws in the functioning of simulators and its surrounding environment.
