Opportunity Overview
This role offers the opportunity to join a team dedicated to delivering exceptional training for the Royal Australian Navy's (RAN) MH-60R helicopter fleet. As an Aviation Instructor, you will play a pivotal role in providing expert instruction on MH-60R aircraft systems, operational and tactical procedures, and related subjects.
Responsibilities
The Aviation Instructor's responsibilities encompass a diverse range of activities, including:
- Instruction: Delivering classroom and simulator-based training on MH-60R aircraft systems and procedures.
- Curriculum Development: Contributing to the development and maintenance of curriculum materials for courses as required.
- Evaluation: Assessing student performance and providing feedback on training effectiveness.
- Training Device Operation: Conducting training on MH-60R training devices, including briefing, debriefing, and grading.
- Technical Expertise: Providing technical assistance for training device inspections and qualification programs.
- Curriculum Improvement: Reviewing and recommending improvements to training programs, lesson plans, and testing materials.
- Administrative Support: Performing administrative duties such as record keeping, student progress monitoring, and quality assurance.
- Communication: Communicating effectively with trainees, RAN Instructors, and other stakeholders.
- Safety: Maintaining awareness of and adherence to safety protocols and procedures.
Qualifications
Successful candidates will possess a combination of technical expertise and instructional skills, including:
- Experience: Minimum of 500 command hours on multi-engine, multi-crew, medium helicopters or Conduct of Training Authority agreed equivalent (recent MH-60R instructor or evaluator experience highly desirable).
- Instructional Experience: Minimum of two years of instructional experience in an aircrew training environment on military rotary wing platforms.
- Sea Experience: Completion of at least one sea-going tour.
- Certifications: ACTC Level IV highly desired.
- Technical Skills: ASW dipping sonar experience and Seahawk Weapons Tactics Instructor (SWTI) highly desirable.
- MH-60R Competency: Possession of qualifications and experience to be authorized by the HQFAA Chief Aircrew examiner or delegate as a competent simulator instructor in all MH-60R curriculum sequences.
- Warfare Experience: Previous anti-submarine and surface warfare experience.
- Security Clearance: Eligibility for a US DoD Personal Security Clearance.
- Instructor Certifications: Completion of required instructor assessments and maintenance of an annual Authority to Instruct (A2I) certification.
- Peer Review: Willingness to participate in regular peer reviews.
