Key Responsibilities
The Flight Attendant plays a critical role in ensuring the well-being of passengers and delivering Avelo Airlines' signature customer service. Key responsibilities include:
Safety and Security:
- Ensuring the paramount safety, security, welfare, and comfort of all customers and fellow crewmembers.
- Responding safely and effectively to a comprehensive range of in-flight emergencies.
- Contributing to the seamless and efficient operations of all aircraft and flight schedules.
- Completing all incident and safety reporting requirements, submitting timely documentation as necessary.
In-Flight Standards and Customer Experience:
- Cultivating a caring and memorable customer experience on every flight, from boarding through deplaning.
- Serving as a primary ambassador of the Avelo brand.
- Acting as the main point of contact for customer issues onboard, proactively seeking creative and effective resolutions.
- Maintaining thorough knowledge of and strict adherence to Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs) and complying with all applicable laws, regulations, and procedures in operational locations.
- Attending all required training and maintaining qualifications as determined by Inflight Leadership.
- Developing and retaining a working knowledge of all relevant company materials, including the Inflight Service Manual, Flight Attendant Playbook, and OneCrew Way Handbook, ensuring currency with revisions and bulletins, and maintaining an updated Flight Attendant tablet.
Customer and Crew Leadership:
- Building strong customer loyalty and embodying the "One Crew" value through effective cooperation and collaboration with all operational crewmembers and Avelo leadership.
- Treating each customer as a unique individual with kindness and respect.
- Contributing to Avelo’s onboard service, sales, and revenue-generating initiatives.
- Serving as a prominent ambassador for customer service, marketing, and public relations.
Minimum Qualifications
Candidates are highly encouraged to reside in or near their assigned base location due to the operational demands of scheduled day trips, which make commuting challenging. The ability to report to the airport within two hours is essential. However, applicants must be prepared for potential multi-day out-of-base flight assignments, such as charter flights or reserve duties, based on operational necessity.
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Possession of reliable transportation and the ability to report to the assigned location within two hours.
- Successful completion of all Avelo Flight Attendant training requirements.
- Willingness and ability to accept and relocate to a base assignment at the Crewmember’s own expense after training.
- Ability to work a rotating schedule with variable hours, including duty days up to 16 hours, encompassing nighttime or overnight hours, weekends, holidays, and multiple days away from home.
- Ability to present a neat, professional appearance and demeanor, adhering strictly to Avelo Inflight uniform and appearance guidelines.
- Compliance with all Department of Transportation (DOT), Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), and Avelo Airlines’ regulations concerning drug and alcohol compliance for safety-sensitive transportation employees.
- Willingness and ability to serve all types of food and beverages, including alcoholic beverages.
- Maintenance of a working telephone number for contact purposes, and filing and maintaining the currency of their residential address with the company.
- Possession of a valid United States passport (or foreign passport with applicable VISAs) at the time of application, with at least six months of validity remaining prior to expiration.
- Unrestricted right to travel freely in and out of the United States, and to and from all cities served by Avelo Airlines, including Canada.
- Ability to understand, speak, read, and write English fluently.
- Legal authorization to work in the United States.
- Ability to perform all duties and responsibilities outlined in the Avelo Inflight Services Manual, Flight Attendant Playbook, company safety manuals, and all duties as assigned by the flight Captain or Avelo leadership.
Physical Requirements
The role of a Flight Attendant demands certain physical capabilities, including:
- Vision correction to at least 20/40 (with glasses or contact lenses).
- Ability to physically lift 50 pounds from ground to waist height.
- Ability to walk forward down the aircraft aisle without impeding the comfort of seated customers.
- Ability to be seated in a jumpseat with all belts and restraints fastened, without the use of a seatbelt extension.
- Ability to maintain balance while walking and standing during flight.
- Ability to stand, sit, stoop, bend, reach, and crouch for extended periods.
- Ability to push or pull aircraft doors/exits or food/beverage carts with a force of up to 100 pounds.
- Ability to assist customers needing aid during an evacuation.
Compensation and Benefits
Avelo Airlines offers a competitive compensation package for Flight Attendants:
- First Year Hourly Rate: $28 per hour.
- Monthly Guarantee: A minimum of 75 hours per month.
- Lead Pay: A $2.00 override per hour when flying in the lead position.
- Per Diem: $2.25 per hour when on duty at the airport or flying.
- Premium Pay: Paid as applicable.
- Holiday Pay: Provided for company-identified holidays, as applicable.
