Crew Workforce Planning Analyst
American Airlines seeks a highly motivated and analytical individual to join our Pilot Planning Team as a Crew Workforce Planning Analyst. This role is crucial in supporting the efficient operation of one of the airline's most critical resources: its 15,000+ Pilots.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain crew staffing models to accurately forecast workforce requirements.
- Analyze workforce planning issues and identify solutions to optimize staffing levels.
- Evaluate the operational and financial implications of strategic changes, including flying schedules, labor contracts, regulations, and technology.
- Conduct ad-hoc projects and analyses as assigned.
- Oversee improvement projects related to workforce sourcing, industry regulations, labor agreements, and transformation initiatives.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop comprehensive strategies and solutions for routine and strategic projects, including monthly pilot bids, crew counts, new hire placements, flying targets, crew vacancy bids, crew TDY assignments, long-range planning, budgeting, forecasting, and ad-hoc analyses such as pilot retirements, hiring, and training.
- Provide support to Crew Planning personnel and leadership, evaluate changes, and achieve buy-in to processes and practices.
- Leverage advanced analytics to optimize staffing levels for the airline's 6,700 daily flights and over 35,000 pilots and flight attendants.
- Travel for business purposes up to 5% of the time.
Qualifications:
Minimum:
- Bachelor's degree in Aviation, Business, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, Finance, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent experience/training.
- 3 years of relevant experience.
- Experience working with and presenting to senior leadership.
Preferred:
- Experience with SQL and simulation software.
- Working knowledge of probability, statistics, and forecasting techniques.
- Basic knowledge of airline operations or union agreements (crew, airports, etc.) and understanding of corporate planning processes and decorum.

- Proven analytical background involving data input, manipulation, and presentation.
