Role as a Flight Attendant Trainee
The journey begins with a comprehensive, six-week unpaid training program designed to certify individuals as safety professionals, service experts, and trusted brand representatives. Upon certification, responsibilities will include:
- Ensuring the safety and comfort of all customers, strictly adhering to FAA regulations and company procedures.
- Responding with leadership and composure to a wide spectrum of emergency and non-emergency situations.
- Maintaining high standards of dependability and professionalism to facilitate on-time departures and seamless operations.
- Demonstrating adaptability and resilience in handling extended hours and irregular schedules, remaining composed within a dynamic environment.
- Adhering to all company policies, procedures, and performance standards, including uniform and appearance guidelines.
- Working independently while remaining a collaborative and dependable member of the flight crew.
- Providing exceptional in-flight service, including serving meals and beverages and offering onboard products for sale.
- Effectively managing diverse customer interactions, both on and off the aircraft, with professionalism and care.
- Operating in various global environments, encompassing different climates and time zones.
Minimum Qualifications for Success
- Must be at least 20 years of age.
- A high school diploma or GED equivalent is required.
- A minimum of two years of customer service experience is essential, preferably within industries such as retail, hospitality, food service, education, aviation, or social services.
- Height and weight must be conducive to safe aircraft operation, including the ability to:
- Sit in a jump seat and fasten the harness without modifications or extenders.
- Navigate the cabin aisle and operate emergency exits.
- Possession of a valid U.S. or foreign passport with applicable visas, all valid through at least December 31, 2026. Candidates with foreign passports must also possess all necessary and valid documentation to legally work and travel as a Flight Attendant within the U.S. and internationally. It is the candidate's responsibility to secure required visas.
- Must have the legal right to work in the United States and be able to travel unrestricted to and from all states and countries served by American Airlines.
- Willingness to relocate based on the company’s operational needs.
- Availability to work nights, weekends, holidays, and extended hours as required.
- Readiness to report for on-call (reserve) duty at the assigned base. Reserve duty may extend for an undetermined duration.
- Ability to professionally represent the American Airlines brand while in uniform. This includes:
- No visible tattoos.
- No more than one earring per ear.
- No facial piercings.
