Role Responsibilities
As a Flight Attendant Trainee, candidates will undergo a comprehensive six-week unpaid training program designed to certify them as safety professionals and service experts. Upon successful certification, responsibilities will include:
- Ensuring the safety and comfort of all passengers, strictly adhering to Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations and company procedures.
- Responding with leadership and composure to various emergency and non-emergency situations.
- Maintaining high standards of dependability and professionalism to guarantee on-time departures and efficient operations.
- Demonstrating adaptability and resilience in a dynamic environment, managing long hours and irregular schedules.
- Upholding company policies, procedures, and performance standards, including uniform and appearance guidelines.
- Working independently while functioning as a collaborative and dependable member of the flight crew.
- Delivering exceptional in-flight service, including beverage and meal service and onboard product sales.
- Managing diverse customer interactions with professionalism and care, both on and off the aircraft.
- Operating effectively in varied global environments, including different climates and time zones.
Qualifications for Success
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must be at least 20 years of age.
- Possession of a high school diploma or GED equivalent.
- A minimum of two years of customer service experience in industries such as retail, hospitality, food service, education, aviation, or social services.
- Height and weight must permit the safe operation of aircraft, including the ability to sit in a jump seat with the harness secured without modifications and navigate the cabin aisle to operate emergency exits.
- Must possess a valid U.S. or foreign passport with applicable visas, with all documentation valid through at least December 31, 2026. Candidates with foreign passports must also hold valid documentation for legal work and travel within the U.S. and internationally.
- Must have the legal right to work in the United States and the ability to travel unrestricted to all states and countries served by American Airlines.
- Willingness to relocate based on operational needs.
- Potential base locations include BOS, CLT, DCA, DFW, LGA, LAX, MIA, ORD, PHL, or PHX.
- Availability to work nights, weekends, holidays, and extended hours as required.
- Readiness to report for on-call (reserve) duty at the assigned base, which may continue for an undetermined duration.
- Ability to professionally represent the American Airlines brand while in uniform, adhering to appearance guidelines including no visible tattoos, a maximum of one earring per ear, and no facial piercings.
