Key Responsibilities and Duties
The selected candidate will commence their career as a Flight Attendant Trainee, completing a mandatory, comprehensive 6-week unpaid training program. This intensive training certifies the individual as an aviation safety professional, customer service expert, and trusted brand representative.
Upon certification, the Flight Attendant will be responsible for the following essential functions:
- Strictly adhering to FAA regulations and company procedures to ensure the safety and comfort of all customers in the cabin.
- Demonstrating strong leadership and composure when responding to a wide variety of emergency and non-emergency situations aboard the aircraft.
- Maintaining exemplary dependability and professionalism crucial for supporting on-time departures and seamless operational flow.

Candidate Qualifications for Flight Attendant
Minimum Requirements
- Must be a minimum of 20 years of age at the time of application.
- A high school diploma or GED equivalent is required.
- A minimum of two (2) years of verifiable customer service experience is mandatory, preferably within high-demand fields such as retail, hospitality, food service, education, aviation, or social services.
- Physical dimensions (height and weight) must permit safe aircraft operations, including the ability to:
- Sit securely in a jump seat using the standard harness without modifications or extenders.
- Easily navigate cabin aisles and operate emergency exits.
- Must possess a valid U.S. or foreign passport with all necessary visas, valid through at least December 31, 2026. Candidates utilizing a foreign passport must possess valid documentation (e.g., work authorization, visas, Permanent Resident Card) granting the legal right to work and travel internationally as a Flight Attendant within the U.S. and globally. The candidate is responsible for obtaining all requisite visas.
- Must maintain the legal right to work in the United States and be able to travel unrestricted to and from all domestic and international destinations served by American Airlines.
- Willingness to relocate based on the company’s operational needs is essential. Potential base locations include: BOS, CLT, DCA, DFW, LGA, LAX, MIA, ORD, PHL, or PHX.
- Availability to work nights, weekends, holidays, and extended hours, as operational requirements dictate.
- Must be available for assignment to on-call (reserve) duty at the assigned base. Reserve duty may continue for an undetermined number of years.
- Must uphold the professional appearance standards of the American Airlines Flight Attendant uniform:
- No visible tattoos.
- A maximum of one (1) earring per ear.
- No facial piercings permitted.
