This position is an integral member of the Inflight Team within the Customer Experience Division, based at Logan International Airport (BOS). The ideal candidate is energized by a fast-paced, dynamic environment and possesses a passion for safety, teamwork, leadership, and delivering a quality product to customers, frontline teams, and vendors.
The Crew Manager, Inflight is responsible for collaborating interdepartmentally to enhance reliability, engage with crews, problem-solve operational issues, and support continuous improvements. This role directly supports flight crews during operations, contributing to the timely departure of passengers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Drives operational excellence while upholding stringent safety standards.
- Supports departmental and station goals and metrics.
- Fosters effective relationships with team members through visibility and engagement, promoting compassion, authenticity, integrity, respect, and dignity.
- Effectively allocates resources and provides necessary support to enable teams to meet operational goals safely.
- Ensures the ongoing safety and reliability of the operation by engaging crews and promoting safety standards and initiatives.
- Guarantees consistent delivery of a high-quality product to customers.
- Promotes effective cross-departmental communication to unite teams towards common objectives.
- Maintains familiarity with Collective Bargaining Agreements (CBA) and ensures team adherence to corporate policies and procedures.
- Analyzes data to inform decisions and thrives in an increasingly digital environment while leading a team.
- Manages escalated service issues and maintains visibility to team members when challenges arise.
- Effectively delivers key corporate and local information to frontline leaders, setting clear expectations.
- Learns and applies union contract rules and regulations in daily interactions with crew members.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience/training.
- Minimum of 3+ years of relevant experience.
- Ability to work variable shifts, including early mornings, late nights, weekends, and holidays, with flexibility for operational needs.
- Must be able to work on-site at the assigned base/location (BOS).
- Current Flight Service, Passenger Service, or Passenger Sales experience is preferred.
- An understanding of working with a contract labor group is desirable.
Skills, Licenses, and Certifications:
- Proven ability to coach, develop, and lead a team of Flight Attendants.
- Excellent interpersonal, planning, and organizational skills.
- Capability to meet qualifications to train as a flight attendant to enhance team leadership.
- A neat, well-groomed appearance reflecting a positive impression.
- Strong service orientation.
- Ability to push/pull force of up to 60 pounds.
- Capacity to successfully perform the physical requirements of the job, including emergency evacuation drills.
- Ability to effectively coordinate multiple projects simultaneously.
- Must pass FAA criminal background checks for unescorted access privileges to airport security identification display areas (SIDA), if applicable.
- Ability to secure appropriate airport authority and/or US Customs security badges.
- Must pass a U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) mandated drug test.
